Hi everybody,

since my maschine is in the shop I thought I let you join in the fun I had and still have with my 10 Euro ( currency in Germany) Quilt.
And the story of it is: A Patchworkstore ( the biggest that I ever seen here in Europe) offerd this event. Two of my friends and I decided to participate and share the driving since the store is1 ½ houres away ( and Gas is outrages high over here almost 5 $ the gallon) anyway you had to sign up and pay 10 Euro and you got the pattern plus material for the first block. If you show up every 1st Saturday in the month and showed them the finished block you got the pattern and the material for the next block for free. So if you showed up all the time you had 12x 12 inch blocks for only 10 Euro ( that is almost 10 $) We had a lot of fun doing it and I dont think the store lost any money on this projekt because you didnt walk out of there not buying anything.( you know what I'm talking about. All this material calling out to you to take it home) working on those blocks I expperienced some problems, some of the blocks where smaller then others at first I thought to myself that I had to be more exact about the seemallowens but talking to the others showed they had the same problems. I guess the problem was that the pattern came from the states and they just changed the inch into cm ( metric system ) Thats a no no. Well still I thing that I worked around the problems and mad it look alright. So I will put in the first 12 Blocks that we got from the store. Then I show you the blocks that I added to round it off. For the border I uses all the scraps left over from cutting the blocks, attached them and cut them down to 2 inch widh. So I hope you enjoyd my story and the making of my Quilt and the finished top. When my machine gets back and Im done with quilting I show you the finished projekt. Maby I can talk my friend in to let me take pictures of there finished Quilts and post them to. It is so funny sometimes because we sew a lot of times the same but it still looks so different because of the fabric we use. Different taste there :-)

Beautiful, Kerstin!! We have that here, too, it's called Saturday Sampler. The shop doing it has done it for 4 years - the first year I did not participate, as they were using browns (my least favourite colour). They charged $5.00Cdn for the first three years, and it was just like yours - make it, bring it next month, get the next one. In three years I only missed a couple of meetings due to weather and being 1 hour away, so it cost me $5.00 for one and since she charged $8.00 this last year, it cost me that for the one I missed.

I really like your filler blocks - was that something you made up yourself?? Or did you have a pattern?? Your top is wonderful! Good job!!

PS I know what you mean about high gas prices - here it is 86.5 cents per litre, last summer it was $1.15 per liter - just ridiculous!!
For those used to imperial, there are 3.89 liters per US gallon.
