thank you, gerda! and thanks for the tip about the dollar store kid's paper. i used copy paper as a stabilizer (suggested by a lady at my quilt group here) for the applique on wren's easter dress - i can't tell you how many needles went dull doing that - on second thought, i spect you can! anyway, i was not looking forward to that! the kid's paper will probably be a little easier on the needle.

I have done paper piecing before. The challenge is removing it. I hadn't thought spritzing with water. I will have to try that with this block.
There is another idea here is to go ahead and sew on the sewing lines without thread that way the paper is perforated so that it is easy to remove once the fabric is sewn on. Haven't tried that yet. I read it somewhere.

Foundation piecing is that where you leave the muslin or special paper on the block. Paper you do tear off but it you use newsprint or a childs drawing tablet which is basically newsprint! Then it's no problem to tear! If you have problems tearing the paper off, your stithces are too big! They need to be so tight that they perforate the paper!

You can add my Colorwheel and Grandmother's Fan into proper place in the album, I finally got the trim added to the fan. I am trying to catch up on things that are behind!!!

BTW You can remove the other 2 blocks that were posted this month they really don't match my color scheme.


***IMPORTANT NOTE: I have left the foundation piece on the back of this fan...my reasoning is because it will probably be quilted by a long arm and per the suggestion of the last fan I made the BC ladies suggested this for a more sturdy block. If you are quilting your top yourself you might want to remove the extra fabric behind this fan. It really is a matter of personal choice.
