Someone in the Quilting the Psalms group shared this. Thought I would pass it on to all of you. Wasn't exactly sure where to post this- didn't seem to fit anywhere- seemed like more folks would see it here.

For Immediate Release:

The CBS News Sunday Morning program with Charles Osgood will be
featuring a segment on quilting. It is scheduled to air this Sunday,
March 16, 2008. Be sure to check your local listings for exact times.
As it is a news show, there is always the possibility of big news
bumping it. However, as of today, March 13, the producers have said,
"It is on the schedule for this week!"

CBS News Sunday Morning features beautifully produced, personal human
interest profiles. A portion of the program will feature the
International Quilt Festival in Houston and a portion of the story
will focus on Ricky Tims, his quilting and his music. All quilters
and quilt industry professionals are urged to immediately notify
friends, family, and quilters they know. Forward this message and use
any other means possible to spread the word.
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for quilters. It will put
quilting on the national stage (U.S) for the first time in years.

We also understand that the CBS news website will feature the profile
on their website after the show airs so international people will
have the opportunity to see it too.

Meg, thanks for sharing this! I can only pick up NBC and PBS in my sewing room, so it looks like I'll have to come out of my "inner sanctum" and watch the t.v. in the family room during this time, lol! Wink

Thanks, Meg for posting this!

Yesterday, as I was wandering the quilt sites I read an intersting thread at the Q&N called "Saturday Specials" which shows ideas from Ricky Tims' style and then later I ended up on the Red Rooster Fabrics website and there under designers was Ricky Tims. I did not even know he quilted until yesterday.

Now here Ricky Tims pops up again today as featured on this upcoming show.

So, for those interested in a preview of his books and patterns here is the Red Rooster link which includes a couple of FREE PATTERNS ... (I just love free patterns ... makes me want to buy the book) ... in pdf downloads at the bottom of the page:

Enjoy,

Smile Pat

I caught the program (Thanks to Meg for tipping us off!).

My only disappointment was they said there was 2000 (?) quilts at the show...but they only showed us a few!! I wanted to see about a 30 minute segment devoted to just the quilt show...lol What they showed was gorgeous, but ended up mostly featuring Mr. Tims. Regardless...I enjoyed it, and was happy to have caught the segment.

Once I learned the difference between "big box store" fabric vs quilt store fabric I think I've done my share of donating to the cause that got that 4 billion $$$ mark reached...lol
