HI all, I have great confidence in your ability to help me with this project
I have a stack of fat quarter and 1/4 yd fabrics that feature various cat patterns.
I would like to make them in to a cat qilt
SO far I've considered a "I spy" type design, an attic window and a Jar design. Any other suggestions.
I think the quilt will be a "cat"astrophic project.
Kat

Hmmmm...... kitty in a jar? Nope, although there are days when that's exactly where I'd like to put my two!

How big do you want the finished quilt to be? You'd have to an awful lot of fabrics to do an I Spy quilt big enough for a bed. And then you'd have tons of fabric left over.

By the process of elimination, I think Attic Window is the way to go. My kitties love to be looking out the windows!

Now that wasn't hard at all! Don't forget the pictures of this "cat"astophic project! Do your kitties do that kneading thing on your lap with their claws? We call that cat-upuncture!

Kat, Have you thought about the happy Block pattern for this quilt? It'd be cute with solids around your various cats and you could be sashing in between them to separate the solids. Just a thought.
I spy would be cute too! You could do pairs of them scattered around and have that someone spy a pair of cats and call it "Seeing Double Cats by KAT"! LOL~
Good to see you posting! I miss ya!!

There was a pattern that I used for some of my Pretty Kitty blocks that was in a Fons and Porter Magazine. I think it was called Catnap. Basically it was borders and corner squares around each block, then put together without sashing. I used black/white and white/black (same fabric but reverse colors) paw print fabric for the corner squares, alternating them to make checkerboard when the corners were put together. Then I used 4 different bright polka-dot prints (again, same print but 4 colors) for the borders. I did put an extra border of dots and paws around the quilt. I've attached a picture.

Makes one whimsical quilt, Linda. The black and white checkerboard really gives it a punch. Do your kitties think it is just for them?

Linda, that quilt is great.
That may be the pattern I use. the big square in the middle would let me show a good representation of each fabric.
Has that quilt been approved by Jake, the quilt cat police officer?

Jakes likes ALL my quilts. He thinks they are just for them.

I have another quilt called I Spy Alaska, and it uses 6-1/2" squares (6" finished). Here's a link to her website: http://www.quiltswithatwist.com/ .
I bought the pattern in Alaska and made an Alaska quilt as a souvenir of my husband and my cruise to Alaska. The quilt is posted in my Gallery of Quilts album (Linda O). http://blockcentral.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/332604915/m/6101041052

Now I am using the pattern to make a Red Hat Lady quilt, a Halloween Cat quilt, and a quilt using kitties from the Pretty Kitty swap. It works well with 6-1/2" unfinished squares of fabric.
