Hey Girls,

Anyone interested in a New York Beauty block challenge? Pam and I are going to do it - similar to the Block Party Surprise as everyone makes and keeps their own blocks. We can shoot for one block per month, unless you find yourself some free time and want to do more than one each month. I´m waiting to hear from Kim to see if we can have a gallery here on BC where anyone can enter their own pictures of their blocks as they finish them.

Here is the website with the free 8 inch patterns www.lenzula.com/pattern/free/nyb.php (hope the link works...)

How ´bout it - let´s give it a try! Karen

Hi Karen!

I would love to join up with you guys...BUT...
I have a problem in that I am on hold with the eyes & NO SEWING! Putting the head down to sew raises the pressure (you already know this from being a nurse!) of the eyes & I have had such a bleeding problem & why no sewing at this time.

If I could maybe be late with my beginning block or could you sign me up as a MAYBE participant??

OK what are the full rules of this challenge? (You know I am dense!) Do we each pick out a block to be done by others? Are we going to have one album for all or each to his own? (Yes I see it is PP & I need to make myself do this method, maybe I will like it! Smile )Nosey minds need all the info!

Babies are asleep! They are trying to do me in! Big Grin

Count me in as a Mmaybe". When will you need to know who is in and who isn't? I am definately interested and the blocks they look like a good challenge and good practice sewing. I really do like the notion of keeping our on blocks as I am in training and not to comortable exchanging my blocks with others as I don't think I am quality ready for such swap exchanges as yet!

How do we get patterns? Will that be able to send into EQ5?

It really does look like a challenging and fun block!

I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.

Hi ladies,

I am definately in. But, I have never PP'ed and it seems as though the directions are not in english. So, I'm sure I will have a ton of questions...

Just fill me in on all the "rules"

Hi all! Depending on the rules & all, I would love to do this! I think I was one of the "originals" with Pam when this was brought up. I have fabric set aside for it already!

You´re right, Sandy, you were one of the originals! But the thread got lost way back in April.

Anyone can join in at any time - there aren´t really any "rules" --- are there supposed to be??? Just try for at least one block per month - you make and keep your own. I just plan on starting with "Block 0" and going on from there and repeating if I need/want more blocks.

Debo, I don`t have EQ5 so I can´t answer any of those questions. Jeannette, I found a website that gives directions for PP curved pieces. I¨ll try to find it and post it as well. But I¨m sure we could post questions and those with more experience could help out.

If anyone has any suggestions for "rules" - just post them. I´m easy.

Here´s the website www.jodieandcompany.com/index.htm I´ve had problems getting the pictures to open with the explanations, let me know if it works for you. Click on "books and patterns" and then look on the left for the "learn to paper piece curves" Karen

Ok, I already have a question just by looking at the picture...

Do you paper piece the points, then cut the curve and applique it onto the next piece?

The tutorial from the jodie and company site wasn't a smooth curve, it had pleats. That really confused me...Please help...We haven't even started and I'm already stressed out Roll Eyes

I've been really taken by these blocks since I've seen them and hope I can do them justice. Or at least not mangle them to much. Roll Eyes

So I guess I had better start studying up on paper piecing and curves huh?
