Thank you ladies, and I'm sorry Meg I just couldn't resist another day!! Wink You know it is like a kid with a brand new box of crayons when you sit down with your fabrics and your muslin is empty in front of you. TOOOOOOO much fun!!!!

Looking good - what size are you going for? and are you going to use embroidery stitches down the seams?

Milica it will be about 4 1/2 feet by 6 feet. Yes I am going to do embroidery stitches down all the seams and hopefully some decorative stitching in the middle of some of the fabric pieces as well. I have some pearl cotton and I have some other decorative threads and ribbons on order. So we'll see what I can put together. LOL!

When will you start yours?

Can't wait for your blank canvas to start getting filled Jacqui. Your embroidery work and cross stitch is absolutely gorgeous, so I know you will produce a fabulous Crazy Quilt!!!

Hey gals (excuse me - we're NOT gals - we're very proper "Victorian ladies"), can this "old has-been" join in the fun? I just now discovered this "Challenge", and it sure sounds like fun. I've wanted to make a Crazy Quilt for years - just didn't have the proper motivation to get started!!!

If anyone needs a bit of velvet, velveteen, or satin, I think I can probably share a few pieces. I know for sure that I have a bit of deep rich hunter green, some jewel-tone dark blue, and some burgundy velvets. And there's a lovely teal silky tafetta from the bridemaids' dresses for my daughter's wedding. Used to do custom sewing - mostly bridal parties and prom dresses - so I have quite a few boxes of scraps and larger pieces. I even have a chunk - approximately a yard - of a brown and cream stripe "shiney fabric" - not sure what it is - might be a taffeta - that dates back to the turn of the century. Was given to me by a neighbor who never saves anything - if she sees no immediate use for it, it goes into the trash! This piece isn't large enough to use for a piece of clothing - but for my friends here on the Forum, I would cut it into pieces to share.

Also, I've decided this might be a great way to teach my older granddaughter more about sewing. Our local guild sponsors a quilt show every Fall - and now they've added a "Quilts by Kids" category. My Caitie isn't old enough to put together a regular pieced or appliqued quilt - but even with her little beginner sewing machine, she could make a few Crazy Quilt blocks. She loves purple (what little girl doesn't!), so I'll dig out all my pink and purple scraps (cotton) and let her have fun putting them together crazy quilt style!

Of course you can join us Nola. We are doing this challenge without any rules or dates so it will be perfect for your busy schedule. It sounds like you have some bits and pieces to get started with too. I started mine a few days ago and have really had a good time with it already. Got some stitches put on my first "block" last night and that was as much fun as deciding what fabric to use!!!

We are all so glad you decided to join us, Nola and I can't wait to see your work.

Nola- I am with you. I think I too have way more of some pieces than I will need and I would be willing to share some of them as well. I have to wait until I have a chance to actually gather them up before I'll know what, though.
