Well I hinted at this yesterday and here it is--A challenge to one and all.

Round Robin Challenge:
Who would be interested in this challenge? The idea for this came to me when I saw one done on Simply Quilts a couple weeks ago. The premise is to have a quilted wall hanging divided into 3 sections and then 3 people work on 1 of the 3, send it onto the next person and then to the last for finishing.
The 3 sections would be the center, the border and then the backing, binding and quilting. If I get a response to this then I will post the rules, and requirements. I'll only need 2 more along with my self but I hope to get more than that.
I will select the theme and for whatever section you choose you will let the creative juices flow to create your own interpretation of the theme.
I would wait until after the Valentine Swap is over so we could actually start working on the hanging at about the middle or end of February.
Or posibly sooner if support warrants.
Signup will start anytime. When and if enough sign up I’ll post the rules.
Oh, and be prepared to make 3 of the hanging so each member of the team would have one when the challenge is completed. There will be postage involved for sending the hanging onto the next person in case that would be a problem for you in participating.

So what do you think girls are you interested?

I would be interested in this. What will be the amount of time we'd each get to finish our section? If we get to choose what section we want to do, I would like the border section, I believe.

Good I've got one sign up. Yes I was thinking for the most part we'll get to choose the section we want unless too many want the same section want the same one. Then we'd have to make a go at a 2nd choice for some. possibly it would have to be the first one's to sign up get 1st choice. I'm not sure about the time allowed for each as yet. But I think it woud be adequate to get the sections done.
Round Robin sign up.

I've heard of these Round Robins, but never participated in one. Think it will be fun, but just hope my work will be good enough. Even tho' I've been quilting since I was 14, when I look at the pics of you other gals' work, I sometimes feel a bit intimidated!!

I might like to try this, It sounds a little challenging. Like Nola, I feel a little intimidated when I look at the pics. Roll Eyes
Would one person piece 3 each of the center design, then ship it to the second and that person would put the borders on then ship it to the the 3rd person to quilt and bind? I've noticed these on the HGTV message board, but haven't investigated them much.

Yes Kat you've got the right idea about it. I think I would have been intimidated myself, but after seeing the show on HGTv it didn't seem so intimidating. I know we can't do anything like the women did on that program but I think most of you have enough experience that we could do ok. We'll just be showing off what we can do best. If one of you do well in a certain area then that would be the area you would choose to do. As for my self I want to do the center Nola wants to do the border area. Now to get some one that is good at quilting, preferaby free motion and willing to use some decorative stitches, that would be a team.
And then a few more like that we could have several teams.
I see I'm going to have to do soem talking about this to encourage others to give it a try.
Next week I'll put the link to the Simply Quilt show that featured this.

Ferrell .... I don't mind binding and am having fun learning to do machine quilting. If you all can put up with non-perfection Roll Eyes I think I would like to give it a try.

I decided not to wait for next week to post the link to the Simply Quilts show where the Round Robin was featured.
I just want to add that we wouldn't be expected to go to the extremes that these women did. Just keep it simply but be as creative as you can. Maybe venture into areas you've never gone to before. Like try doing applique or embroidery. I think that may be what this is about .. trying something new, that is new to you. Or showing off what you afready can do.

Here's the link to the show so you can see what these women did.
