I just had to share this with all of you. This quilt is truely stunning! I have worked with hexagons before, but not with octogons,.... yet. I believe this may just be the inspiration I was looking for. Reminds me of a lovely marble tile floor from a church or a courthouse, etc.
Amazingly ...it really might NOT be out of your league Delia! When I took my beginners class many moons ago the FIRST block she started us on was the Grandmother’s Flower Garden. Even my friend (who’s an intermediate quilter) groaned and whispered “WHY is she starting a beginner class on THIS BLOCK?”. Well....once we got shown a few tricks...it was a very easy block to make. There’s just a little trick to putting the blocks together in a certain order. I did peek on the site for a pattern to buy and didn’t see one. She really does gorgeous work!
