Wow! Some of those are beautiful! I'm jealous. I don't have a sewing room, I have a folding table at the bottom of the stairs. Frown

Oh well, it'll only be another 10 years till my oldest go to college...

Delia,

I didn't have a sewing room either, for years and years. Then my oldest went to boot camp. I was okay for about two days and then the melancholy hit, hard. So I thought I'd just go sit in his room for awhile.

Not! Twenty minutes later, when I finally got the door open because of all the dirty clothes he left my melancholy had flown the coop and I determined to surround and capture the room for my own defenses! Did he really think those clothes were going to march themselves downstairs and wash themselves?!?

By the time that boy got home, he had eleven or twelve loads of fresh laundry in his drawers and the room was full of boxes that had been bubbled wrapped, packed and labeled. He looked at it all and wailed, "You're kicking me out!" I assured him I was not losing a son, I was gaining a sewing room.

Now I am waitng for the second one to make me an empty nester so I can annex his room, too! hehehehe

Mine is in my backyard. We had a portable building built so that we could finish wood projects. We used to make wood projects and then I would finish them by staining or painting depending on what it was. Before the building was finished, the wood market fell and people just weren't buying because they could buy cheaper versions for less at the dollar store. Well....my fabric stash was beginning to grow and I talked hubby into making it my sewing room instead. It's 16'x20', has a front porch and is a temperature controlled environment so that I can be out there anytime that I want. I don't have any pics of the inside but here's what the outside looks like.
www.quiltsandembroidery.net There may be a couple pics of the inside in the gallery but not anything that shows all corners. I know there's one of the quilt frame which is across the back wall. I'm in the process of cleaning up so maybe I'll get some pics when I'm finished cleaning. The embroidery machine pics are in the house. Wink

I noticed this in the last post....syncronized kitty licking....LOL Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow Meow

Janice-

ROFLOL! The synchronized kitties are mine; Stan and Oliver, named for DH's favorite comedians- Laurel and Hardy! They are littermates, and more like a pair of bookends than a team of anything synchronized! LOL We often find them both curled up on the bed, mirror images of one another as if someone posed them! It is kind of uncanny actually. They like to perch on the sewing machine while I am sewing and catch the fabric, or when I am rotary cutting that will be the exact moment one of them NEEDS to lie in the middle of the table. And of course, when I lay blocks out on my bed to make sure I like the design, that will be when their radar kicks in. They will come running home from down the block and across the street, and insist on coming in just so they can wallow around on my neatly pressed blocks and find a comfy spot for a nap. Have you ever seen a roller derby or a motorcross race? Quilting with Stan and Ollie is very similar!

Meg, that is so funny about your son's room! I have 3 sons and 1 daughter, so I'm gonna have to hope my dd goes away to college! She's only 8, though, so I have a ways to go. Frown Not that I want her to leave, I just want the room! Big Grin My youngest son is only 1, so I have quite a long time before I'm an empty nester.

Hmmm... maybe I can have my hubby build me a shed too... Of course, he does model building (which is rivals quilting in supply and stash building) so he'd probably take over. Frown Oh well, looks like the bottom of the stairs is gonna be my home for a while.

I'll just be thankful I don't have to deal with any cats. Wink

I had a wonderful sewing room but we have our house up for sale and had to put it bak as a bed room. I have to keep the house show ready so now the kitchen table is my room. I am just sad that I dit not take pictures of it. I had a whole wall of cubbies a wrap around sewing table for my machines and it was Bright pink with white drapes and lot of girlie stuff. I miss my room Frown

THAT IS A GREAT WEBSITE!

I just claimed our guest room for my sewing room a couple months ago. It's small, but came out great! I had seen a deal on TV where this woman was a TRUCKER and she made quilts in the sleeping area of her truck. Well..... if she could survive in THAT TINY CRAMPED space... then my guest room was A DANCE HALL compared to that!

We have company about twice a year...and that room was wasted space. I was constantly sewing out on the kitchen table and dragging my stuff ALL OVER. Not any more... a few tall cabinets purchased from Home Depot....some creative thinking and now I have a sewing/quilting room with a hidden guest bed. Mucho better!!!!!

I think I’m most proud of our hidden bed...lolol It’s my flannel wall *giggling* We don’t have any president’s or royalty come to visit us... so they can just stare at my sewing projects..... or go get a motel...lol
