Ok...this is SLIGHTLY off topic,but this was someone's accomplishment...just not mine...lol

When surfing around the HGTV website looking for Quiltsrus' quilt photos I saw this. I had to share it! It is stunning! Talk about TRASH TO TREASURE!!

According to the poster (from HGTV craft site) this was a foot board from an old bed that she rescued out of her neighbor’s TRASH!

This is her finished project. Talk about an amazing restoration!!!

Ohhhhh it’s just gorrrrrg-a-musss!!!!

Thank you. Big Grin I'm still waiting to give the bunny quilt to my grand daughter. This was her Easter quilt! Eek She should have had it by now but I haven't seen her to give it to her. Frown Hopefully she'll be coming to my house Saturday. My son's birthday is Sunday and we're grilling out for him Saturday. For Mother's day, I wanted him to bring her with him on Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed....

Nanawing...I have made labels with the embroidery machine and then appliqued them to the back of the quilt. You can make the applique like Eleanor Burns does by using a fusible interfacing. The fusible goes to the front of the label. Draw the shape that you want and stitch, with a short stitch all the way around your shape. Trim to about 1/8" from the stitch line and put a slit in the interfacing and turn it right side out. Work it with your fingers to get the right shape, place it where ever you want it on your quilt, iron it on, let cool and then applique it to the quilt.

I've also taken a pigma pen that is made for writing on fabric and just wrote it out by hand (heat set after you write on the fabric). If you iron a piece of freezer paper onto the back or slip a piece of 120 or 220 grit sandpaper under the fabric to make it easier to write on.

When I make the label ahead of time, I sew it in with the binding on 2 sides and then hand stitch the other two sides down. This way makes it harder for anyone to unstitch to remove the label from the back. You can also use the applique method on the two sides that have to be stitched down by hand.

Hope this helps....
Janice

Laura, you are such and busy quilter these days ... already have your fourth one ready to quilt ? ... you are averaging at least a quilt a month since you started ! Wow!!! WTG!!! Yippee!

Have you posted more pictures that I have missed? You must have completed that pretty blue one that you showed us a block for a couple of months ago. Would love to see more pictures of your quilts,

Pat

Oh I want to see the pinwheels! I just sent mine to the quilter. I'm hoping she can disguise some of the flaws in it. I will post a pic when it gets back.
