You will enjoy making those quilts they are sewwww Easy! I have made eveyone in my famiy one except myself. My children and grandchildren just love them! Oh and I need to make one for my son-in-law, daughter said not make them one so I took my print I picked out for me and gave it to them and then he realized everyone got one but him and I heard about it! The one I gave them got interpeted as hers but he uses it all the time! I definately need to add him to my list of "to-do" for Christmas this year. I want to make me one and another one for hubby sometime! He needs a longer one than what I made. My first ones were the ones made with the panels of fleece that has designs like the favorite football team, etc. Hubby's is plain but I used those panels as the measurement for his and it is just to short, he has problems with his sugar and neuropathy and this blanket is nice for wrapping up in and watching tv of the evenings.
Dee & Dorian If you are making you one and not making one from a printed panel make it the length that you perfer for bundling up in. Otherwise to square them making the length the same as the width of the fleece is just fine for children. Happy Quilting! Bama Deb ~ Sweet Home AL I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you. I quilt my fleece blankies because my hands go to sleep if I try to hand sew or tie the fringe. I love them quilted. They stay together well and I use a thread that contrast with the fleece.
Have fun. Vicky |

I machine quilted 2 of the ones that I made after I gave them as gifts.
My youngest granddaughter wanted her stitched cause she hated it would come untied, it made her happy. Then the fabric that I made my daughters out of was not fleece on one side and it wouldn't stay tied period! So I stitched around it also. It was an animal print of something that I had originally chosen for myself and I gave it to her after I got it made. Happy Quilting! Deb, how do you tie your quilts, and what do you use to tie them? Maybe the problem is there. May I share what I do? Perhaps it will be helpful to others as well. I use crochet cotton, it is recommended by many well-known quilters. Something about the way the individual strands are twisted together makes them lock tighter together the more pulling there is on the quilt; so the knot keeps getting tighter. When I tie, I insert the needle down, take one stitch to come back up, and then take a second stitch right next to the first. This way if one breaks, there is still the second to hold it together. Then I use a surgical knot for tying. It is basically a two-handed square knot, but is what is used for holding sutures. It absolutely will not come undone. You can do a simplifed version by remembering the mnemonic device, "right over left, left over right makes a knot that's sturdy and tight." Hope this is helpful.
