I also love the heart in a star quilt and maybe someday I'll try it.

I have never taken a cruise of any kind but I would love to try a quilting one. Wouldn't that be fantastic! Being able to relax and see beautiful sights while quilting and learning new techniques. Perfect vacation.

Jeb love all your flowers and quilts!~~ I too am partial to that log cabin with that heart~~ gorgeous~~~

Can I copy your flowers to put on my flower quilt someday or are all those copyrighted? I saw on Flicker that it says all rights reserved. Is this for personal use too on photos? Never seen that before and am curious?

As far as I'm concerned, you're welcome to use my pictures. But you MUST show me your finished quilts using them!!! Big Grin

The stars are not applique, they are part of the pattern.

Hello Jeb!

Nice to see you pop in! I wonder if they are EVER going to get the old board up and running again?

I just finished a horse quilt top last night and will post it soon. It turned out pretty good. Nothing too fancy, but I really like the colors. I had bought a Thimbleberries pattern (Street Scene) awhile back because it looked like a good one for novelty fabrics.

so I guess this is a good place to post my question.

I do NEED HELP tho'...on this quilt top I just finish last night I realized there is what feels to be in inferior fabric in 12 corner blocks. I am disgusted over it... I only buy fabrics from quilt shops now, and this must be something left over from long ago. I worry about it durability. Soooo, is it a QUILTER'S SIN if I ironed some super light weight interfacing onto the backside of the blocks before I finish the quilt to make the fabric more durable. This is NOT a "quilt show" quilt. It's a using quilt, and my gut instincts tell me this fabric was a mistake. I am NOT going to take the whole quilt apart and redo it. I am looking for tips to shore up this fabric so it can withstand washing/drying.

Suggestions??

Never tried it, but it might work. I think I would stitch it in as well as fuse it, though. Some of that stuff tends to shift as time goes on. You could cut the pieces a little larger than the piece to be stabilized and stitch "in the ditch" around the piece.

In the first quilt I ever finished, I used some cheap fabric, not knowing any better. The quilt is only about 8 years old and the cheap fabric is falling apart!!! And once a hole appeared, my poodle helped it along to grow bigger so she could pull out the stuffing!!! (The quilt is used as a chair cover so she can sleep on the chair.) It is still usable, but only if I turn it to the back so she can't see the hole! Big Grin

All beginning quilters should be taught to buy the best material you can afford, if you want your hard work to last!

Oh lord... I will be ILL if this falls apart. I like your suggestion of cutting it a little bigger and then stitching in the ditch. It's worth a try...so...I'm going to try it.

Thanks for the tip (and/or support)

Hugs...and poof*

Felicia-

My inclination would be just to remove the four corner blocks and re-do them. You don't need to take the whole quilt apart. Do you know how to do partial seams? I have included a site for the bright hopes block that explains the technique very well.

When you un-sew the corners, unsew a little further in either direction along the seam line for the borders. Replace your fabric. Re-stitch one border to the main body of the quilt. Re-attach the corner block to the other border piece, then stitch from the point of un-sewing out to the corner. Easy peasy! I think in the long run you will be way more satisfied.

I agree, if it's just the four corners of the quilt. I thought she meant the four corners of each block.

Hello Jeb and O-Rose...

It's 12 BLOCKS! Eek If it was just four corner blocks I'd fix it no problemo, but it's all the black blocks on the quilt. 12...ugh...

Thanks for the link. I'll ck it out!!
