Okkkkkkkkkayyyyy!! I am officially OFF THE HOOK!!! I took my quilt top to a quilt show yesterday and showed it to a few long arm ladies. They ALL said I was being silly... the black fabric was FINE! Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...... I felt like crying I was sooo relieved...lolol They said the reason I am getting the impression the fabric's toooo thin is because the batiks up against the black fabric are very stiff fabrics. My black is very acceptable fabric! That was what my quilting mentor said too (we went to a quilt show together yesterday), but I thought she was just trying to spare my feelings. Anyhow.......no worries about the fabric now!!! I had mentally prepared myself to TEAR out the blocks!

So now... ...*ahem*... about your quilt photos? To QUOTE YOU...”YOU CAN DO THIS! NO EXCUSES!’......lolol

Gerda..
Thanks for quilt compliment! It started out for our granddaughter, but I think my son will wrestle me to the ground for it...lol He's a major horseman. I'm already designing another horse quilt, but in lighter colors for our gd a-g-a-i-n...lol I gonna use your “ripping out” tip! Love that! I watched Eleanor Burns pick out / rip out a seam using a rotary cutter once .. I about fainted!! Eek I will try your method...as I’m sure there will be many seams to be ripped out by this newbie in the future...lol

Jeb...
HOLY MACARONI! My sweetie was sitting behind me when I opened your quilt link and he thought the one quilt WAS a STAINED GLASS WINDOW...lolol!! That is truly a jaw dropping project! I have made my own bias tape before but for ONE BLOCK..*giggling*. I assume you felt sufficiently challenged when you finished that project? Oi-VEY! Alsoooooo...... the horse wall hanging is a pattern I’ve drooled at before. It really is soooo beautiful! That’s raw edge ...yes...no? Love them BOTH...thanks for posting the photos to your link...we loved them.

OKNANA..
At the quilt show yesterday they had a huge table of FREE quilting magazines from years past. I’ll have you know my g/f and I dug through them all looking for that Christmas magazine you want. No luck, but dang....if only 100 magazines were left by Sunday I can’t imagine HOW many magazines were there to being with!

Thanks for the compliments on the horse quilt. I’ll say it again...that Thimbleberries pattern “Street Scenes” was MADE to showcase novelty fabrics. The Happy Blocks on the corners really helped too!!!

Off to run errands and make the most of my day off.

Poof**

Yes, the horse is raw edge applique. Not too hard, but time consuming. And yes, I was VERY happy to be through with the stained glass one.

The penguin quilt is an Amy Bradley design, with, of course, my own touches. Big Grin

As much as I like being thanked, Wink I can't take the credit for looking for the magazine. Someone else on the board did that.

About using the bias, one thing that I found was easier, though longer, for me was to sew on each side separately rather than using a double needle. The double needle was too hard to turn. And sewing black on black, you can't see if the sewing lines aren't perfect!!
