It's been awhile since I have been totally humiliated, so it is long overdue. Thought I would share my mishap and what not to do! Being the clutz that I am, this was bound to happen!
My exercise bike has stirrups on the pedals just like Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France! LOL Yeah, right! When I attempted to get off last night, my shoe got stuck in the stirrup. Instead of calling for help, I tried to twist my shoe loose, lost my balance, and both the bike and I went down, doing a priouette on my knee! Ouch! I fell in such a way that I was wedged in between the wall and the bed, so DH couldn't get around to reach me. Instead he had to reach over the bike and then back under to reach my foot. He did manage to extricate my foot finally. Once my foot was free, I was able to re-position the other foot so he could slowly wiggle the bike out from under me. It was kind of touch and go there for a few minutes- had this vision of him calling 9-1-1 and requesting the Jaws of Life! LOL Can you just see the headline on that one! LOL It could have been a lot worse, I suppose. Other than my knee being really, really tender and sustaining a lateral whiplash, if there is such a thing, my ego took the brunt of the beating, and I am understandably a little gun-shy this morning! LOL Have any ever been thrown from a horse? I am seriously considering if Gene Autry, John Wayne, and Hop-a-long Cassidy were telling the truth about getting right back into the saddle. You know Debbie- I was thinking that that monkey fabric was looking pretty good right about now! LOL
Actually, I used to do yoga years ago, and have wanted to get back into it for some time. The doctor told me that I needed to ride the bike to improve my circulation. Well, the ol' ticker was pumping pretty good last night! LOL And DH was so frantic, I think he got a cardio workout as well! See, Mandy, out of all the wonderful baby quilters out there waiting to be adopted, mentored and otherwise inspired, now you know why I choose you! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! LOL
BTW, John Wayne was right! I got back in the saddle today and made it off with no mishaps! Meg Proud Coastie Mom http://www.myquiltblog.com/ohiorose53/ http://www.serialquilters.com/ohiorose53 I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it. Voltaire |
