Just found out a neighbor lady that I'm close to is trying to lose a few pounds too - so we're going to have a bit of friendly competition!
Did pretty good with my eating yesterday - not quite back on track but not too far off either. At least I didn't make a pig of myself by having two tenderloing sandwiches!! Settled for just one and was rewarded by not feeling like a stuffed toad!!!
And I went for a 6 mile bike ride - I have an old-fashioned bike - one speed, coaster brake - the kind I had as a kid. It isn't nearly as fast as the multi-speed bikes with all those gears, but I think I get a better work-out on my bike - can't shift into an easier gear to go up hill - just have to push harder on the pedals. It's raining today so may have to work-out on the gazelle instead of the bike ride - but maybe the rain will clear out later today.
Off now to do my chores, then hoping to get some sewing done.
Weight watachers tip...get rid of everything in the house/frig/pantry that will tempt you. I went to WW after second child and lost 20 pounds by portion control and walking at least 3 times a day for 30 minutes.
Friend of mine was using a personal trainer and he said walking is the best exercise when you start out and you don't have to worry about breaking a sweat. If you can't talk and walk...dont laugh...you are going too fast and will end up hating it and will quilt..I mean quit. Just vary your route so you get some hills into your treck.
I don't have to be at work till 11 am so maybe I'll start walking again, too. Those 20 pounds came back and brought a few friends with them.
Nola Just wanted to stop by and encourage you on as you go, congrats on the decision, that is the key to not having HBP and being diabetic in most cases so kudos to you for your decision and know you have my support too. Hugs Deb
Happy Quilting! Bama Deb ~ Sweet Home AL I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.
Just checking in on this topic to see what is going on and give my encouragement to Nola to keep hanging in there, good to have some friendly competition makes it fun to do something healthy. Keep on truckin!!!!! Like the bike idea.
Yippy!!! Another 2# gone! Really figured I didn't lose anything this week as I didn't stick to my eating plan very well - but when I got on the scale this morning, there was another 2 pounds missing!
I think the key so far has been "no seconds"! I really tend to overeat - so it's not so much "what" I eat as "how much" I eat. And I'm trying real hard to eat less starchy stuff and more veggies. Son wanted chicken stir-fry this weekend and that was very good! Very low fat and all those veggies were yummy! Think I'll have the left-overs for lunch today!
It's been too hot to ride my bike very much, but I have tried to get at least a mile or two in every day.
Great Going Nola! I, too, am having a friendly competition... with my DH, though. I'm finding that portion (and in my case, snacking) control is really the biggest thing. I did WW a few years back (two kids and 40 lbs. ago) and that's what I learned the most. A loss of 1-2 lbs./week is healthiest, so sounds like you're right on track. My DH and I have set a deadline for our contest and the winner gets the prize of her choosing (within reason, of course). It's a great motivator!
Keep up the good work! Delia
