Tata, look for lighter weights of decorator fabrics - if they are cotton or poly/cotton or even polyester, you can wash. i have done that - prewash, sew, then wash as needed. I can't afford dry cleaning either!!! For drapes, they rarely need cleaning - just a good vacuuming once a month. Just wash on the gentlest cycle you have, same with drying. The half done quilts? Put them aside for now, when you have time, finish them off and keep for gifts or charity. Ideas will come to you. I don't have a hubby who won't move furniture, but he used to drive me bonkers, because we couldn't go to bed until the livingroom was COMPLETELY set up, pictures, books, stereo/tv the works!!! Thankfully he's mellowed a lot!!! He now has the attitude, if it doesn't get done today, there's always tomorrow, and if tomorrow doesn't come, it doesn't matter. If you need to cover windows temporarily, just pin some lengths of fabric or extra sheets up, and remove as you get curtains made. Your FIL sounds hilarious!!! does he follow his own advice? Big Grin
And a year goes quickly - just watch! Smile You'll do fine! Come here to vent - I have willing ears!! SmileSmile Hugs to you!! (((())))
