Jacqui, I had a spider phobia for about 2 years when my kids were young - how I outgrew it I don't remember. Now when I see one, I grab a glass and a piece of paper, cover the spidey with the glass, slide the paper underneath and let it/them go outside. My daughter now has this phobia about all bugs - and her kids love bugs!!SmileSmile - Maya, the younger one, will capture the bugs the same way I do, and Mummy opens the outside door. There are some interesting and pretty spideys out there!!

My phobia has been with me since I was little. My father used to lock me in the cellar with no light. When things fell into my hair it scared me. I can't stand them to this day. Nothing has been able to change that.
One funny thing was though when I was studying Psychology lol we turned into class one day and the tutor told us we would be studying phobias and would we open the text book at Pge 54.... I did..... and threw the book the whole length of the class.... to which she quite gleefully stated. And we have our first phobic.... there was a pic of a spider on the page ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww... she wanted to desensitise me but it just didn't work
