Hi Pat,

We've just looked at your Quilts and they are lovely. My daughter Ket especially loves your rural wall hanging and we have come away from your work brimming with ideas.

I've had a design bubbling in the back of my mind for a quilt depicting our property, which is an old orchard, but have been a little frightened to take it on. Having seen your wall hanging I think I'll get started instead of just thinking about it!

Thank you, Melita

I was going through some photo albums yesterday and found that I do have a picture of the first bed size quilt I made three years ago. It was a twin size and my DD picked out the fabric. I wanted my baby to have a quilt when she went off to college. It was the first quilt I had made since the applique flannel ones I made for my babies over twenty years before.

Here is a picture of it and the pillow cases and pillows and curtains we made.
This photo was taken in her freshman dorm room:

Thanks, Rebecca and Jenell,

I like to think my quilting skills are improving. At least now I can actually make blocks. Wink I did do a pretty good job mitering the striped fabrics in the corners on that first quilt. I remember looking up how to do that on the intenet. I still look up the how-to-do stuff on the internet. I love the sites with picture tutorials. If I can see how it is done while I am actually trying to do it and study the pictures long enough, I have a chance of figuring it out. Big Grin

I have even looked up hand-stitching blocks to help me with my class and that has been a big help. When someone sits down to show me and then watches me, I get all thumbs

Thanks, Jacqui. Smile

My DD now has a mostly blue quilt on her dorm bed and she has this one on her bed here at home now. The blue one was made with many fabrics that are in the first quilt, although it is quite differnt. It was the second quilt I made and I did not use a pattren of any kind. We had so much left over fabric from our shopping expedition after the first that I got two quilt tops out of it. I shall have to see if I have a picture of that one anywhere.

Pat,
Those quilts are beautiful! I especially love the flower basket and pumpkin patch ones. I've been dying to do me a fall quilt. Hmmm... maybe this summer...

Hi, Delia,

Thanks. Smile

Fall colors are some of my favorites to work with. I have actually made more fall colored quilts, placemats, wall hangings, table runners and pillows than for any others season. My third quilt was of very bright maple leaf blocks ... (it probobaly needed more contrast) ... I need to take more pictures of my quilts.

Did you complete the shop hop last weekend? I had a ton of fun. I was running out of time when I got to Red Barn and could not explore as much as I would have liked. I wanted to go through their sale oriental fabrics, but I had to get to the Quilted Acorn before it closed. I picked up my completion gift on Wednesday when I went to my class at Pine Tree.

I did sign up for the Summer Shop Hop. I am happy that it does not include the ones in Maine this year, because, although I like the shops, it is too much driving. Six shops is nice. Smile

There is the Seacoast Hop in the fall anyway, that includes the shops in Maine. Smile
