Well you really cant see the stand that my brother and I made a few weeks ago. But it holds up to three quilts and they look good on the stand. Better there than the closet.
Just wanted to share

I agree Julia, too much goes into our quilts to hide them away behind closed (closet) doors! Smile Your quilt stand is very nice (and your quilts are beautiful!) - good job!

Have you heard of these?
http://www.robinsonswoodcrafts.com/quilt-ladder.htm
I have heard of a couple of ladies who hung old wooden ladders horizonally on a wall, they could display 7 or 8 quilts that way.

How about a picket fence ladder? I like this idea! http://www.heavenlyquilts.com/quiltladders.html

My DD found an old ladder at an auction that had seen better days. Really not safe to use as a ladder anymore. I think she paid about $5 for it. Looks great in the corner of her living room with her quilts laid across the rungs.

Gerda-

There you go again! Tormenting me with stuff I can't afford, and don't have room for! LOL Big Grin Everyone should have such pleasant torments, right? LOL I really liked the picket fence ladder and the bent willow ladder. Can you tell I am a country girl at heart?

From a conservation standpoint, the only word of caution I have for anyone buying or building one, is to make sure the varnish, paint, or whatever finish used will not harm the fabric. Can't leave the wood unfinished either. The acids in the wood will eat the fabric.
