Thanks to everyone on this forum who helped me find the missing part of the instructions for this quilt. I've quilted several tops that were pieced by my mother (some are in the photo background) but this one is the first I've done from start to finish. I know it won't win any awards, but I think of it as my trial quilt and all mistakes were lessons in disguise.

Thanks, Jenell. Now I'm trying to get the courage to cut up some really pretty fabric, to try and make my 2nd one.

LOL...you ladies are GREAT!! I'm glad there are some other newbie quilters in here with me. I have completed ONE intermediate quilt (last year). I also made a fun lap warmer for my sweetie at Christmas, but it wasn't a huge "I want it perfect" quilt. It was a flannel snuggler quilt. I've made 6 baby quilts, but only one biggie quilt. For me... cutting the sashes and borders was WAY MORE STRESSFUL then making the blocks! Love that your mom quilted too.

I think your quilt is awesome! There is a LOT of little pieces in that beauty! I'm taking a BOM class in my home town, and OH MY...the March block is 32 pieces and I have to make 20 of them for the lap warmer size blanket. The other 20 blocks are just the snowball block and that’s pretty easy. I’m feeling a little bit intimidated by it to say the least...lol

I like the “Happy Blocks” in here because they are little fun fast stress busters! DITTO...it is wayyyyy nerve racking to cut into that first hunk of fabric...lol Especially if you LOVE IT!

Off for now...it’s movie night...

Felicia, it sounds as if you aren't a newbie anymore! I've seen a few intermediate patterns that made my head hurt just looking at all the pieces. I just need some more confidence and that will only come with diving in and doing it. I was reluctant to post the picture of my poor little trial quilt here, among such experienced quilters, but I thought "what the heck" and did it anyway. So what if my quilts have mistakes? The average person won't even notice them and they'll keep me just as warm as they would if the points were perfect and the seams exact. Everyone here has been very nice and helpful and I hope to be as good a quilter as they are one day.

Oh My Goodness, you can't possibly be serious when you say you weren't going to post this quilt! It is fabulous, ok now I wouldn't dare post any of mine.

I love the colors and the pattern. Your flying geese look wonderful.
