This is my progress so far on my 3D pinwheels. Thanks to Nola for inspiration on this one. I am just learning to make pieced borders so this is my first try at it. Of course my counting was off so I ran short and have to add 4 to each side tonight. But so far I'm satisfied. I know it's not perfect but the little one won't notice too many mistakes. Smile

I think it's lovely, Jenell -- good job! I love the pieced border. I saw a pattern the other day that had a pieced border just like that and I've been tossing it around in my head ever since.

I get heart palpitations when I even THINK of a pieced border...lol The colors in this are soooooo soothing to the eye! Very antique looking (which are my favs!). Reminds me of sherbet, and cream! Super pretty!

This is my first raggedy quilt. Next time I will just use one layer! Matt is a huge Sooner fan so this will go in his truck to keep Sylvie safe from the ND winters. Of course, Skyler decided she has to have on too, and then Sissy can't be left out so I guess it's 2 more. This really was fun but as usual I was just winging it.

Fantastic work Jennel. If this is just 'winging it' you're obviously using fairy magic. Dare I ask? Are the Sooner colours pink & white? LOL Thats very liberated of them! Our Fremantle Dockers are Purple and white and it causes some merriment from time to time.

I love your work.

Jenell, your quilts are lovely. How many layers did you use on the raggy quilt? I thought they were three layers anyway..... backing, wadding and block.

Melita, of course the Dockers theme doesn't give them much trouble either hey!!! Big Grin

Take care and have a great day!

Oh Melita! No way is our football team pink & white! Eek Eek LOL They are actually Crimson and Cream. Which is very nice and manly but when I saw this in pink I just couldn't resist it.

Erica, the normal raggedy quilts are constructed of 3 layers but the websites I visited said it's best to leave out the batting when using fleece. I think they meant flannel with a fleece backing. So this one is 2 layers of fleece. I wasn't sure my machine was going to handle that at all the corners. Fortunantly, the winters here are much milder so I'm going to try the next one with just one layer. By winging it I mean that I have read up on several sites and then change something (usually not a good idea) so that it becomes harder than it was supposed to be. lol

So right Erica, I don't doubt winning a few games wouldn't hurt the Dockers either. Choking after being up by 50 points at half time is not going to improve their reputation! LOL I wonder if you can get Dockers fleece fabric? Have you ever seen any Erica? I could follow Jenell's lead and make a raggedy Dockers quilt. How cool would that be! I've got just the person to make it for as well.

Thanks Jenell, I thought that was the case.
Melita, I've never seen any Dockers fleece but I haven't looked either. Guess Spotlight would be a good start point. Otherwise, could ring the Dockers themselves and ask.....good luck!

Take care and have a great day!
