Oh, thanks so much for your kind words! And yes, that was a lot of flying geese. 150 to be exact. I thought I'd go blind cutting out all those pieces.

You are braver than me! I have done the Flying Geese blocks, but not that many of them at once!
Good job! Jami |

Pam, I have been remiss!! I saw your gorgeous quilt a few days ago, and didn't post! You did a fabulous job! You will go far, my dear!
As for flying geese, there are easier ways to make them. http://www.patchpieces.com/Flyinggeese.html This next one is the same directions but has actual photos: http://quiltingpassion.com/tutorials/geese/QuadrupleSquareMethod.html http://www.allthingsfrugal.com/snowball.htm also click on the blue words flying geese. What I do when I use this method, is to draw a second line to the right (outside) of the diagonal line, then I sew on both lines, cut in between, and I have a small HST (Half Square Triangle) unit for a different project. I have lots of these waiting. OK, gotta go see my grands! Keep up the super work!! Gerda A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels. Keep looking UP! When it seems there is no way out, there is always a way up! |

Thanks, Gerda, for both the compliment and the links. I like the alternate way of making the flying geese. That's the great thing about being surrounded by those that know more than you do -- it rubs off eventually!

Pam -
BEAUTIFUL first quilt. Much more difficult than my first - simple squares. You are no longer a beginner. LOL! Linda O Texas |

Pam, great work. The Quilt is stunning.
Are those trees aplicated or is it the fabric? Happy Quilting Kerstin :-) http://snipurl.com/20obh ( I don't know if this will work. But you should see a slide show. :-) ) |

Kerstin, the trees are only the fabric, one I've had for years and never done anything with. I outline quilted around each one to make them stand out some. The pattern was basically just making the geese -- the rest was simply fabric panel strips (the trees) and sewing on the border strips. Pretty simple for a first quilt.
Linda, I made a doggie blanket years ago for my little cocker spaniel that was just squares sewn together with a layer of fleece instead of batting. The plaid scraps I used for the flying geese in this quilt are leftovers from that little blanket. I just needed something for him to lie on while traveling with me in the car so I sewed it up. I didn't count it as a first quilt, but I suppose that's just what it was. |

Ok... I'm glad Kim redid some of the links, because I never found my way back to this one! When I look at "flying geese" it just makes my eyes cross! I'm so glad I got to peek again. You should be PROUD of this one Pam! I'm going to look at EVERY link in here! Talk about inspiration.... then I'm going to post some of mine. I'm just finishing up one for my Sweetie's granddaughter. I'll post it when I get it done. I've marked this link to my favs so I DON'T lose it again!
Beautiful work!! "When I'm good... I'm very VERY good, but when I'm bad... I'm even BETTER!" *~Mae West~* . . |

I am officially addicted to quilting. Here is my second project, a lap quilt made mainly from scraps from my first quilt. It is paper pieced by hand which I loved for I was able to work on it while sitting and watching TV with my hubby.
