dee, i reckon that's why we like pics that are posted on BC - our own private little showing! but i understand somewhat, i have no local quilt stores, much less shows - only walmart. have to drive at least 50 miles to get to a hancock's, about 70 to get to hobby lobby - if there are any quilt and/or fabric stores, closer i have been unable to find them on a google or yahoo search. so yeah when folks get to talking about attending this show or that, i sometimes get a case of the green-eyed monster creeping along, then someone posts a pic of their latest project and that monster is tamed for a little while - so keep the pics coming folks!!

Jody, I went to one store a number of years ago in Vegas. We (DH, DS and I went there to the Comdex show - DH had developed a stand for plasma screens for a guy he knew (who was partners with some other fellas) and we went to demonstrate it. We all got sick there - great way to spend a vacation! I missed the Hoover Dam - lay down in the back seat while my guys went on the tour. Anyway, by Saturday we were back on our wobbly feet, and DH had promised I could go to a quilt store. I think it was the Fabric ...... something - it was a huge store in a mall on West ...... the east/west road north of the strip. My jaw dropped!!! I've never seen so much quilting fabric! The rest of Vegas I couldn't have cared less about - not my cup of tea, at all!! Glad you had such a good time. You'll have to post pics of your goodies, please! Dee, check at these stores for notices of any quilt shows in the area. Gerda

Good Morning ladies.....thanks everyone for the warm welcome back...you all gave me warm fuzzies. Jody,Cindy Gerda its not the stores I can't find its the actual shows. I have visited most of the stores here & signed up either for thier mailed flyers or e-mail and the shows just don't seem to come here as often as they did in Ca. I love to wonder the quilt shops but since I have limited income I can't really afford their prices....yes a addicted wal-mart shopper, I even keep a list in my car which wal-mart have or don't still carry fabric...is that sad or what? But if I am out traveling and only want to go browze around at fabric I don't want to waste my time by stopping at a wal-mart that doesn't carry fabric. Since I moved into my daughter all my sewing supplies are in the garage-I only pull out what I am going to work on-no projects can get left out-not because her house is so well organized & clean-the kids get into anything, espically stuff that doesn't belong to them....yes living here is a real test of my patiences and I apologize for getting off topic. again thank-you everyone!

Dee, is there a guild in town? I know lots of guilds put on quilt shows of their members items every year or two. Other than that, you may have to just wander the internet and look at quilts. I know, it's not the same as up close and personal, but better than nothing! And the ladies here often post pics! Such talent! I used to have to put things away from the grandkids, but now that they are older, they know - don't use Oma's blue scissors, that pins and needles are sharp, but they still want to learn to sew (of course that fluctuates!) I think I'll need to start them on the machine, rather than with needle and thread. It goes too slowly for them - 5 and 6 year olds don't always have the patience of the older ones. In one way, putting things away everytime is good - things stay tidy, but it can also be a nuisance - hauling everything out everytime. Oh, well, you'll sort things out. Other than that, no, keeping a list is not sad, it's foresight! and maybe google with a map handy for towns that have quilt shops - some have shop hops, and they may know when and where a show will be held. Oh Gerda great ideas thanks so much....now that the weather has cooled down here I think I will set up a little sewing corner in the garage-youngest daughter is having her 1st baby and I have a pile of baby material waiting to be made into cute quilts-I am so excited I never thought I would have grand kids from this daughter, the shower is 10/20 so I need to do a marathon week of sewing. Thankfully I work well under pressure...lol dee

This is the one http://www.fabricboutique.com/My jaw dropped! I walked into a store as big as a grocery with all this fabric!!! I would have loved to have gone to more shops - I had Googled and found three, but only stayed briefly at this one (yes, I bought a little bit!) hubby and son are not into quilts, though hubby likes what I make - now to make some for the family and FINISH THEM!!! That's my downfall, I keep starting things like swaps and boms and never quilting them. My poor granddaughter's quilt was started 5 years ago, and it's still on the frame! Gerda

Thanks so much!!!!!!!! Yes I think we can all relate to starting and not finishing projects...as hard as I try not to have to many UFO's sometimes it just can't be helped. None of my friends are crafty much less know how to sew so I get my fix of chatting about my passion w/ my on line buds. dee
