The mail just arrived and in it was the members magazine from The Henry Ford. On February 15, a new quilt exhibit will open, and will run until April 27. The article does not specially mention the Gees Bend quilts or suggest that Susana Allen Hunter was a member of that group, but her quilts are definitely from that time period and genre.
On the 15, there will be a special program from 10:00a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The lecturers will include the textile conservator from the museum, discussing quilt preservation and the curator of folkart from the MSU Museum who specializes in quilt history. She will be discussing the cultural context of quilts. If anyone is interested in going, please let me know- DH might be able to get tickets for you at the reduced members price. Meg Proud Coastie Mom http://www.myquiltblog.com/ohiorose53/ http://www.serialquilters.com/ohiorose53 I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it.
