Did she sew that first seam all the way across the 3.5" block, or did she stop 1/4" from the edge?

Hello AuntiePam,
She sewed the seam all the way across the 3.5 " block. The folded block, when you open it, is 1/4" from the edge.

This block was really fun to make. Apple Yippee! Banana Cheer

Hmmm... I never realized that there were so many how to quilt videos on YouTube. I always thought it was just full of people doing stupid stuff. Guess I'll be paying more attention from now on! There were some pretty good litte tutorials on there!

This is the same technique I used to teach for a 3-D bowtie, with a couple of differences: she adds an extra step for the fussy cut center block and her center square is a different size.

Pam, she stitched the entire length of the background pieces. The large center piece is sized so that when it is folded it doesn't get caught in the seam allowence. Just be sure to line up the raw edges of the center block with the raw edges of the background pieces and your folded edge should automatically 1/4" from the other edge.
