Before Carol Duvall left HGTV she had a guest one day who needed some bias strips and demonstrated a trick her quilting-mother had taught her.
She took a length of fabric (will work from 1/2 to full yard) and turned it on point. If memory serves correctly, she brought the bottom point up to the top and folded in the side points. I cannot remember if she left it as a diamond or folded once more to make a triangle. The cutting was done on the side opposite the folds, I think.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I used the technique several times, but after the last (horrible) 18 months I cannot remember it. Between canning I played with paper models, trying to figure it out and even goggled it. Searched HGTV and drew a blank there too. Do you think a frontal lobotomy would help restore my memory? LOL
I already know how to do the tube for continous bias binding. That is not what I am looking for. If someone can explain the step(s) I am missing for this other technique, I would be very grateful.
I remember seeing that segment but for the life of me I can't remember how she layed it out, sorry Meg.
I will be watching for the right formula too.
Have a blessed day from cool weather in Bama.
Happy Quilting! Bama Deb ~ Sweet Home AL I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.
I think in the demonstartion I saw, the woman brought the bottom right point up to the other point (the top left corner) so she had a square instead of a trapezoid when she began cutting.
I sure hope that your arthritis leaves you alone for a while. I know mine has been giving me fits with this season change! Much better today though.
