I've just now found this site, and am so happy to be here! I've read you can convert any quilt pattern into a paper pieced or foundation pattern. I've recently ordered an antique quilt pattern that I would love to try this method on. Has anyone heard of this? Perhaps everyone but me already knows how. Thanks!

Hi JoAnn!
Welcome to BC!! You'll love it here! The only way I know is to use EQ5 or some similar software. You trace your pattern and then it will give you the choice of templates, rotary cutting, or paper piecing patterns. I haven't used it nearly as much as I would have liked, but I did transfer one pattern to paper piecing. I'll be interested to hear more answers myself |

Hi, JoAnn, and welcome!!
Here is some info (looking for more) http://www.geocities.com/pcpiecers/draftinglesson.html I would think if you had a line drawing of the block you want, in the size you want (use graph paper to draw it out on), and take a good look at where you can divide the pattern into sewable sections, you could do many blocks like that without a program. A friend of mine from guild, uses Corel Draw (she also says an Office program works too) to draw out paper piecing patterns for her own use. She does not like regular piecing !?!! I don't know how she does it, though. Make sure you add registration lines where you will be sewing the sections back together. Still looking. Gerda A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels.
