....quilting tissue paper? I saw it mentioned on an episode of Simply Quilts, or maybe Fons and Porter. I have never seen it used; never even seen it for sale. Where does one purchase this? Is this something new? Has anyone ever used it? What is it's function in quilting? An enquiring mind wants to know.

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it. Voltaire

My guess is you trace the quilting design on the paper, pin the paper to the quilt, and then sew. Just an idea.

I use water soulable interfacing to do this. Works like a charm, cheap, and easy to see the fabric under the interfacing cuz it's CLEAR!! I buy it by the yard at JoAnns and use my 40% off coupon unless interfacing is already on sale.

Meg, I think Julie is right - you use it to trace your quilting design and because it's so thin, it's easy to pull away when you're done.

Julie - are you referring to the plastic wash away Avalon type stuff that one uses for embroidery - that costs the earth here so I'd be interested to know what make you use?

Yep...I buy it at JoAnns. It's on the BOLT with the other interfacings...do you believe it for only 1.99 a yard! Also on a small roll on the peg board. I just love it. I tape the quilting pattern to my table, trace it with pen, pin it to my quilt and done. Sew and wash. You can also tear it away. Dont have to spray away. If you spray away, instead of washing, fab can get stiff. Questions? Just ask again.

Julie,
What is it called at Joann's or is it just called WS interfacing? What kind of pen do you use also??? I am going close to a Joann's tomorrow so am wanting to know. Oh this sounds like it could be an addicting product to use for quilt designs.
I am wanting to hurry and make a Shamrock design WH for my FDoor and this sounds like it'd be quick and easy~
Thanks!!

Please, please please tell us the name of it. This sounds like something I can use. I have so many quilt tops and it would be so wonderful to finally get them finished.

There is another possibility, acid free tissue paper for quilts when storing. But this is just a thought.

Ok gals...Two ways to buy this stuff. One is ON THE BOLT. This one is lighter weight. Second way is hanging and is rolled up in bubble pack. I have both. Second type was on clearance..got it really cheap. Bolt is the one I like better. Bought 5 yards last time when infacing was half price. It's on a bolt and shelved with the other interfacings. Price: about 1.99 a yard. I think the Sulky that someone mentioned is what I have. I use it all the time for my quilting patterns. Just love it!!! Best invention since sliced bread and microwave bag meals!!

Marking: I just use a regular ball point pen for light fabric and a white pen for dark fabric.
