You ol' smarty pants! Razz It worked! Big Grin Knew I had to change settings for Adobe, but didn't realize I needed to do it here, too. Confused I have resigned myself to the fact that I just need to put little sticky notes up all over the computer. Of course, I'll probably forget to read them! LOL Wink Thanks a bunch! Sporty

Here are the guidleines, start date is when you chose to start---it is open-ended.

RULES & GUIDELINES FOR JANE STICKLE BLOCKS

I} This is an open ended challenge to anyone & you can join in at any time. To learn new skills and techniques and offering encouragement for making small blocks, you keep your own blocks!

II} The block size will be small 4”- 5” blocks from your choice of patterns {you provide your own}. I have chosen to make the Jane Stickle {225} patterns but you are welcome to join in and make patterns of your own choosing; the idea is to get comfortable making the smaller blocks and above all have loads of fun!

III} You can purchase fabric or use fabrics from your own stash.
The book recommends: 5 yards background fabric with a total of 8 yards for the entire quilt.

IV} The challenge is to make 4 blocks a month and post them in the album by the end of the month. However you are welcome to work at your own pace and make more than the 4 a month. These blocks may be hand or machine stitched your choice.

V} We will start at the beginning of the JS book and move forward. You may opt to skip a block, depending on the skill level.

*Life happens and if you can’t met the months challenge then just let me or the group hear from you.

VI} We will be making our own individual albums to post our blocks. Pictures must be 50KB or smaller. Need help with creating an album? I am willing to help you with that.

*Give the pattern owner credit for your patterns on your album page by posting the book title or website as a courtesy to them …just a suggestion.

Example:
Jane Stickle Quilt Blocks by Deb Owens
Patterns from book: “Dear Jane" by Brenda Papadakis

Okay, one more dumb question- dumb because I am sure it has been discussed as well. What kind of paper do you use? Is it really, really obvious that paper piecing is not my forte? I have done it once or twice, using regular copy paper on oversized blocks. On something this tiny, do I need to use something special? Just don't want to have them all stretched out of shape.

Ladies
Michelle has her album made and has posted some beautiful blocks in her album already - go take a look at:

http://blockcentral.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6971052502/m/2251033733

Something that I want to try is link all of the albums together if we can. I have saved her link into my album so when someone views my page they have also access to hers for viewing. If this is clear as mud take a look how I did it by viewing my album!

No blocks for me yet I was thinking scrappy but I have found some beautiful fabrics online that if I can get it ordered soon, that will be my DJ fabrics.

ALSO
Keep in mind the gudielines are just that and nothing is set in stone, so everyone can sign up and work at your own pace.

Happy Quilting!

Meg
I have heard that the childrens art paper that comes in pads from the dollar store is very good for PP, I have some here but havn't tried it out yet, but it is thin and would tear away easily and seemably inexpensive!

Meg, I can only speak for myself (and I only paper piece once in while since I like it but don't love it) but I simply use the thinnest, cheapest paper I can get my hands on for my paper piecing. I know they sell special papers for this at quilt shops and Joanns, but I find them expensive and unnecessary. If I use thin, cheap paper and use a shorter stitch length, I have no trouble at all getting the paper off. Smile

I'm sure those who PP more often will have some suggestions for you too...

Thanks Deb for posting about my album and am so looking forward to all the ladies blocks when everyone gets going.

Meg I use regular 20 wt. typing paper even with these blocks however do have some of that more expensive PP paper thats from Carol Doak, but have not thought to use it and also the paper of childrens art paper like suggested have heard it is great as well think that whatever you choose make sure to use a larger needle like the 90/14 and make your stitches smaller all these things should make it be a breeze, I am one of those who love PP'ing the bestest (is that a word). I'm still trying to decide what theme of fabric to use!!! Argh!!! It's a toughie!! I have also printed out a couple of the SS blocks - may make two quilts eventually. And then, I have the Dutch Treat book by Judy Garden - it's inspired by Delft tiles, and the blocks are 4" finished or is it 4 1/2"?? I loaned it to a friend. This one is reverse applique, so I think I'll wait until the house is all done before tackling that!!!

Deb, I'll get back to you about setting up my album. Thanks for setting this all up!! Newsprint paper is what I will be using, I don't know how it will behave going through a printer, though. Think I'll be using my window!! Smile
