Gerda,

The site you posted is not the Jane Stickle quilt, which was done in 1863. This quilt was done during the depression and found in a cupboard in California some years ago. Regardless, it is still a lovely quilt.

Thanks, Kim, I'll have to have a look-see at my three LQSs - all within a 5 minute drive! Hopefully one of them will have it, or I'll have to drive to Edmonton and check out the half dozen stores there.

Those are very pretty blocks, thank you for sharing them with us. I am with Gerda on there only being one perfect one and that's God.

Hey who is to say that we aren't subconsciencely addding in imperfect blocks because nothing in this world is perfect...can't we adopt that motto, from the Amish or which ever sect it was?

Gerda
Thank you for the site, I am sure that Kim would agree this isn't infringing upon copyright. So as long as we pick and choose which quilt blocks we want to work with and that we post 4 1/2" unfinished then we should all be happy.

Our main goal is to make a new quilt top from 4 1/2" blocks and in the process learn to become fimilar with and get comfortable making all those small pieces into some beautiful blocks. We are here to encourage and help one another in this endevor as we forge new and closer frienships and above all hae fun.

Happy Quilting!

There is the Stickle quilt! Thanks, Gerda! Now, do you know where we can get free patterns for the Stickle quilt?

I so agree there Deb, all the blocks are so pretty and unique in it's own right, I only posted that quilt because it reminded of this quilt. Thanks Gerda for finding the page and sure hope that it is okay to share the blocks when made, sometime that copyright stuff get a little bit touchy, however it is posted for all to use. Now that we have all that cleared up I have not seen the booklet on the JS quilt but the pic that Gerda posted is mighty fine looking and a lot of work, that is why I had begun to save mine as to not be in a hurry and get too bored with it and then it becomes another set of unfinished blocks, at least that is my hope.

Ladies
I was reading over the sampler quilt blocks at

http://sentimentalstitches.net/free-stuff/midget-blocks/

these blocks are 4 1/2" finished. So make sure this is the size you want to play with if you use these blocks.

There was a guild site that had a few Stickle blocks for free, but the website is gone or the blocks disappear...can't remember which. Confused

I think the book is out of print, but you can pick up a copy at Amazon.com from marketplace sellers. The prices are $20+. I even found the EQ software at Amazon. I didn't look anywhere else...there may be better prices elsewhere. Smile
