Michelle, you are so right to bring up copyright...we must make sure that we are not infringing on anyone's copyright by posting our own images...anyone want to research this? :cricket: :cricket:

Elaine's JS is very beautiful as all of her works are. Thank you for sharing it with us Michelle.

Happy Quilting!

I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.

Thanks for the information, Gerda. Did you look at these? They seem to be sets of directions for some 78 blocks. No patterns. Not having ever looked at the Jane Stickle book, is this how it was written as well, directions, but no pattern? Wow, I can see why people say this is such a difficult quilt to put together. Sort of like doing a jigsaw puzzle without the picture on the box to guide you.

Meg

The other day I came across a website that had all the patterns on but I forgot to bookmark it and now can't seem to find it.
If you buy the CD and/or the book it has the patterns laid out very carefully.
One just couldn't make the blocks with those other instructions - you're quite right it would drive anybody crazy.
If I come across the site again I'll post the link.

When I can locate my dear jane book I will look and see if the blocks are the same as the midget blocks that Gerda posted http://sentimentalstitches.net/free-stuff/midget-blocks/
and Sylvia's Bridal sampler as these two have the block patterns posted.

Thanks for the links Meg. Very interesting.

I don't think I'll join the group though, I have too much going on that I want to get finished by Christmas. LOL And not enough time!

I can't wait to start seeing pictures though, of what you all make. LOL

Milica is right about the book...the blocks are only line drawings with no cutting instructions. I drafted my blocks into EQ5 and paper-pieced them with the exception of the applique.

There seems to be a bit of confusion! The Dear Jane book (Jane Stickle's quilt) is just the patterns, as Kim said. The hints I posted were just that - hints from a group that was making the JS quilt. I had not heard of any free patterns for this one.

The Patterns I found at Scentimental Stitches are for the quilt Michelle posted a pic of. This is the quilt found in California and is NOT the JS quilt. She calls them Midget blocks because they are small - 4 1/2" finished. Interestingly, Gayle of SS also has the pattern available for sale, and these same blocks finish at 4". Her other free patterns are also small blocks. She drafts them all herself then shares them with the world.

As for copyright, if you are making the midget blocks from Scentimental Stitches, there should be no issue - she publishes them free for each person to make. I can't see why we cannot post pics of our blocks from there without permission. We are not selling them, or passing them on. Only the link was shared here. But I do agree about copyright when it's a published book/pattern that is/was for sale.
If I'm wrong, you may throw FQs at me! Big Grin
