Was unable to get on earlier due to maintanence, according to the message I got about the forum being closed. I know Betty posted somewhere about not being able to add any more pictures and attempting to move them around and remove duplicates, etc, to free up some space.

Just curious if that was one of the objectives of the maintanence? It would be a shame not to be able to see the beautiful work of the talented membership. And anything that makes someone's job easier is always a good idea.

Just glad to see the forum up and running again. Thank you Kim, for providing the forum and to Betty and the other moderators for the work you do behind the scenes. I'm not sure who you are, so I can't mention you by name.

I tried coming in, too...and was glad it wasn't unavailable for too long!

I've only been here a very short time, but yes, a big THANK YOU to Kim & the moderators for making this virtual quilting bee available to sew many of us!

Meg, I think they are still working on the Forum as I've tried several times today of post in the Albums.

Once a long time ago we had to clean out photos that were large and that is why we go to the Albums. I only removed that that I put in the Album and a couple I'm trying to put in there!

It's been a couple of days now and hopefully things will get back to normal so I can finish posting the photo's I have waiting.

Is there any way possible that photos can be reduced in the same way that they are done on the Kitty Block Swap where we add a photo and it is automatically reduced for the indivudal adding the picture to the albums?

Or maybe a simple program button added on here where we can resize our photos ourselves? I have to keep my camera settings reduced to get any photo sized small enough to post then it is so small that it isn't large enough for seeing detail?

I remember that, Betty, that was just about the time I joined the forum. I remember because I was so overwhelmed by all the talk about posting pictures, and I hadn't a clue! LOL I still am not very sucessful at posting pictures, but at least I know what you all are discussing now.

I hope it is one of the things that gets updated. Not only will it make your job easier, but it will free up space so we can see the work of all our new members. I am so thrilled about all our new friends!

Debo, on Kitty Swap that is a Yahoo Group Template does it for us. Isn't it a wonderful thing! lol

I don't know about here, Kim would have to answer that one. I use a simple Paint program now that I have Vista and haven't figure out how to do their photo program. I also so my Kodak EasyShare where I can choice the size I want a photo reduced.

I never mind reducing any so send those big bab ies to me and I'll reduce them just enough to get them posted. Sometimes I have to try 5 or 6 times but I try to keep it as close to 50 without going over as possible. Once it was 50.2 and I thought well that will do! NOT! It's really a simple process in paint. Do I need to post the directions somewhere?

y'all, just a thought to try here - once you get your pic downloaded on your puter, if you RIGHT click on the pic file, you should get a drop-down menu. one of the options should be "open with" which opens another drop-down menu (or perhaps to the side LOL). in this second menu, look and see if you have Microsoft Office Picture Manager - if so, click on that and your pic should open in that program. that is what i use to edit & re-size my pics and it works like a dream!!! in that progam, after i have cropped, i go to "re-size" and choose "Web-Small". my pics are ALWAYS the right size for posting and i haven't had one turn out so small you can't see detail.
i just hope this helps someone . . .

you know, meg, you could practice on a pic of yourself, you know just post on here to see if the program is on your puter and so you can get used to using it . . .

i must mention that pics need to be ".jpg" files and not bitmap files. that is why i had such trouble with some of the pics for the "BC Family Album". i can't remember from one time to the next how to convert a bitmap file to a .jpg - perhaps one day i will remember to WRITE IT DOWN for myself to remember! LOL Big Grin bitmaps open in paint tho - only i was never good at editing pics in paint - i'll leave those to betty's capable skills Wink

I believe that if you open your picture with whatever program you use, you can click on FILE then SAVEAS and click on JPEG in the drop down box - similar to what you just described for editing pics.
