Well Connie it was there last night because I looked through it! I don't understand why some of these are disappearing! I'll see if its in my History.
Jess, the Trivia Thread could be under "Did You Know" that would be the place for it. Betty "A friend is a second self." "I have many here on BC" Aristotle/ Betty "People do not quit playing because they grow old, they grow old because they quit playing." Oliver Wendell Holmes Pretty Kitty Swap http://blockcentral.com/swaps.shtml BPS-II Album http://blockcentral.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6971052502/m/6321052763 http://ladybugbetty.photoshop.com/ |

I guess I don't understand the re-organization plan. Why would Quilting Trivia Games be under Off Topic Discussion?
BTW I checked and it is not there. Connie The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you. — John E. Southard http://www.thequiltandneedle.com/ |

I don't know Connie it was just a guess on my part as I don't know what happened to it. I neven went to it so it was just a suggestion of where it might be.

No worries Betty. It doesn't really matter now.

Betty, thanks for trying to help us find it. We can tell that you are trying hard to help out those of us who are a bit lost today! What a shame that it is gone too.

Now you all know how technologically imparied I am, so this is strictly an observcation by eyes from the outside. In several posts, it sounds as though the thread got deleted after was checked for whatever you are using for criteria. Is it possible that somehow the program was written in such a way that it is mis-reading your clues and is deleting things that aren't supposed to be. Maybe I am way off base, but there seems to be a pattern here. Have I read too many detective stories?

Meg there are several ways to delete. You can go into the postings message by message and delete one by one. You can go into Admin and do it several ways. One is to delete all postings from say 06-31-2006. But you have to be careful because if there is a thread that is active right now but it was started before that date--the first setup message -- then the whole topic goes. Perhaps some did not read the warnings because when you delete a topic it will respond with a screen that if the original posting is in that date it will take the whole topic. You must read before you confirm anything. Now you can go into Admin and select a topic and display all of the messages and chose the ones you want to delete. This is the way I do it! I also open the topic in a separate screen so I can see both the messages and the place in Admin where you go to delete in bulk. I select one message at a time. Now some older swaps and such were deleted by topic.
Sometimes I think Admin has a mind of its own! Betty "A friend is a second self." Wow! Betty, sounds like you have a really good handle on how this all works! And you are really dedicated to set up such a thorough system of checks and balances. Please, understand, I was not critizing you or, any one for that matter. Like you said, I was wondering if the program had a mind of its own, so that it was ignoring your cues- remember SID from 2001: A Space Odessey? Okay, okay, I hear you- I will stay away from both the detective stories and the sci-fi! LOL

Meg I took offense in no way at all! I understood exactly what you were saying. I guess I was just trying to explain that it is complicated! And it is frustrating for us because there was no deleting active stuff on purpose. Your comments were right on! lol I think it does have a mind of it's own!

I am very new to this forum, going to the chat in the morning is not like a thread you can post in and come back later and see what others are doing. I've had stuff lost before the big change. I would also wonder if space is limited why we are leting a garden club post what 90-95 pages in a month?
I know from other forum long signatures use space and maybe these should be limited. These are just questions and suggestions and in no way do I want to offend anyone, just curious. I have really enjoyed this forum and I'm sure I will in the future, I just don't get it right now. Sorry I don't know any other way to put my frustration out there. |
