I also wanted to say that I'm really sad the good morning thread had to go. I enjoyed reading what's up in members lives as well.
Seeing as how I can't even find the chat spot |

Yes, I am sad to see it go, too. Would it be possible to run a shorter thread under off-topic chats on a monthly basis? Sort of how the What Did You Accomplish threads were run. That way someone who was away on vacation or something could catch up on the last month, but the outdated threads could be deleted at the end of the year.
I am trying to think of ways we can keep the flavor of the forum, which is what has attracted so many people, and yet make it more managable for Kim and the moderators. May I also say, I like the addition of the topics in off-topic, makes the forum more like I remember the old-fashioned quiltign bees. Conversation, problems and advice weren't always about quilting; it is good to be able to network with people whose opinions you trust. And If I am going to trust you with my quilt, then I should be able to trust you with everything else I hold dear, right? LOL I am a little confused about the Did You Know thread. What is the vision for this? Besides all my utterly useless trivia! LOL Was there any thought to a thread for pets or would those go under home and family? Probably I am jumping the gun here, I am sure Kim will post a description of her vison for the forum that will answer all these questions when the changes are complete. In the meantime, I am having fun on the scavenger hunt. Patti-
To get to the chatroom, look at the top of the page. See where it says Go Find New, etc? Click on Go, a window drops down. One of the choices is Chatroom, click there and then on Chatterbox. That should get you in. Some folks cannot get in becasue as it was explained to me, the setting on their computer's firewall is set too high. I am barely computer literate, so I have no advice on how to fix that. While I really appreciate the opportunity to get know my fellow quilters in real time, it is nice to have the other option available for those who cannot get in. I think that is a valid arguement for keeping the thread, even if only on a month-to-month basis. I just don't want to see anyone feel left out. I'm just curious did the good morning thread create 90+ pages in 13 days? Here we are trying to figure a way to bring the good morning thread back on a monthly basis???? At this point I would feel intimidated to post in it, I did a little in the old thread.
I really miss that good morning thread and the trivia. Although new to this forum I felt it was a place to come and live vicariously through others, see their quilts or blocks, ideas. I don't get that anymore, sad. |

Okay, I hear all of you loud and clear...you want the Good Morning thread again!
I've worked out a compromise that I hope we all can live with. The Good Morning thread will begin again as soon as someone starts it. It can be posted in the Chit-Chat Lounge. Here's the compromise: Posts will remain online for 30 days after which time they will be deleted. The new group has agreed to have their reunion thread pruned so that only 7 days of posts will be online. They have been really nice and understanding of the problem and I really really appreciate that! I ask that you all hang on tight! The moderators and I have cooked up some fun and excitement for the forum that I know we will all enjoy!!! I know that change is not always fun. but to borrow a quote from Sam Walton, "If you are standing still, you are not growing." (Thanks to Dorene for that one!) Kim ----- Kim Noblin |
