IMAGE RESIZER:
Those of you who know me realize that I am not one for downloading a lot of "stuff" to my computer from the internet, believing you soon get rid of your "memory" with useless products. I always think that it is best to use the resources that are already on your computer.

However, I found a tool that is an absolute must if you have trouble with resizing in PAINT, your camera software, percentages, or for any reason. It does NOT get any more simple than this one!

Please note that it uses 2.5 MB of space when you download, it is for Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. Earlier versions of Windows are not compatible! The price is FREE.

If you can RIGHT click & point your mouse, you can use it. It will put a link on your mouse, if you choose to do so!

Put you mouse over a px, rt click, choose the image resizer, select the size you wish, click, & it is done!
(Don't know anything about pixels? A 320 x 200 choice translates roughly to 23KB --39.3 KB. The 640 X 480 is a good sixe to start out with.

On Block Central, the 320 X 200 is probably the one to begin with.

(Of course, depends on colors in your px to begin with! Size does not translate to pixels, BTW, they are totally different things!!)

I did choose to put a shortcut on my desktop when prompted.

I hope this might help some of you that are struggling with downsizing px. TeXas

Texas, thank you so much, I don't have any problems resizing but I know a lot of folks do. I just use my Windows Photo Viewer and use the Stretch/Skew feature. I never, never Skew however as you can get into bumble bees using that thingy!

Happy to hear from you!

Hi there, Texas (and ladies). Texas, I was thinking of you last night as I completed Row 2 of our old Football quilt! I dragged it out of the mothballs and started again.

So happy to see your post....and thank you for the photo resizer. A friend of mine has a Kodak camera and she has a terrible time managing and sending photos by email. Hopefully she can just copy and save a photo to "My Pictures" and go from there. I sent her a link.

Again....nice to see your post....regards...tenacity

I've got a question about downloading this resizer. When I clicked on Download a box appeared and asked if I wanted to run or save to the computer. I don't know which to do. What is the differnce in doing one or the other? Can someone please tell me which I should do if Texas isn't available to answer.

And another thing does this move pix from one place to another? I sometimes have a problem moving a pic to my computer.

Ferrell, running or saving is one of those things that different people have different opinions about. Run is more of a one-step process - you click it and the program starts installing itself. Save will put the downloaded file somewhere on your computer (you'll have an opportunity to tell it where), then it will either ask if you want to run (or open) it, or you'll have to go to the place it's saved, and click it again to start the installation.

I prefer saving first for a couple of reasons. It's a little safer, in that if you have any doubts about the site you're downloading from, you can virus-scan the file before opening it. Also, if there are any glitches in the installation process, you've already got the file on your computer to try again, so you might not have to find the site & wait for it download again. And if you get lucky & upgrade the computer some day, you've got the file right there to copy & install, saving the search & download time again.

To answer your 2nd question, I looked at the site and it looks like it does have options to move pictures, both from one folder to another on your hard drive, and from camera or media card to the computer. In fact, it looks like it has a lot of features for a free program!

Thanks Pauli. I'm glad to know that about saving or running not just for this but for other things too.
