I couldn't resist buying four floral panels, but I don't know how to use them. They're about 13 inches square. Each panel is a large flower (natural looking) on a sandy-beige background.

I thought about making some 12.5 inch blocks using colors that go with the flowers, but I'm afraid the panels will get lost. I thought about using them as corner blocks, but corner blocks always hang off the side of the bed.

I also thought about putting them in a vertical row down the center of a quilt.

I can't envision what any of these ideas would look like. If anyone has worked with smallish panels like this, I'd love your ideas, and photos.

How about putting them at the center of an Ohio Star or other star-type block. At 13", they'd make a nice big block that you could alternate with something else. Or you could just do nice wall hanging or table runner with them? I've not worked with panels that size before, but they sound like they could work in a number of ways. Can you get more? Maybe that would make a larger pattern more accessible.

Good luck!

Oooh, I didn't even think of making them part of a bigger block. I have no math skills but maybe I could figure it out.

I could get more but they'd be duplicates -- there are just four different flowers.

I hadn't considered a runner either -- or place mats -- ! Big Grin

Thank you! Darn, but the folks on this board are helpful!

Delia, that is a great idea! I may try this with some six inch printed blocks that were part of a Christmas panel I picked up last winter that I have not found a use for yet.

Another idea, Pam, might be to add borders such as these:

between the blocks like sashing.

I've been wanting to challenge myself with borders -- I'll look at those patterns, and if they don't involve much math, maybe I can adapt one.

I especialy like the intertwined one.
