I have a pattern for a Lone Star quilt for which I just bought the fabric that I found in a book at the local library. I just brought it back the other day. Hmmm ... can't remember the name and publisher and I photocopied (shhh, dont tell) just the part that I needed. It is strip pieced, sewn, cut into the large diamonds and sewn into the star with solid bands on the border. Photo of pattern here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22943809@N02/sets/72157603802511376/ I have found the library to be a great resource.
I am really looking forward to starting this project. I have never made this pattern before. Just need to finish up my current one and make a baby quilt (never takes long) and then I am set to go on it.
