I am looking for a simple block that has a diaper in it. I want to make a changing pad and thought diapers would be too cute on it.

If I were going to make that block, I'd use an embroidery machine to embroider the safety pins. Then I would attach actual pins over some of the blocks along the edge. That way, baby wouldn't be lying on cold metal, but Mom and Dad would always have pins at the ready!

Jenell, this is baby items - still looking for a diaper pattern or picture
It's a coloring page that you can use for an applique pattern.

Fun!! http://www.plan-the-perfect-baby-shower.com/diaper-cake.html
Can you adapt this? Look about half way down, there's a blue diaper drawing - click on this link and get the pattern of an open diaper, but I was thinking of the blue pic

In case you're wondering how I found these - first I tried diaper and pattern + quilt block (something like that), then I thought of coloring pages and baby items, then I thought of scrapbooking (not that I do scrapbooking, but I knew they had all kinds of papers,e tc for all kinds of different pages) - I typed in Scrapbooking + baby items + diaper. See how my mind works? Big Grin

No diaper, yet but.... http://www.free-quilt-patterns.net/categories/Baby.html

Jenell, on this page there are a couple of pics of a t-shirt and diaper - will that help you to draft a block for regular or paper piecing?

Just a few more questions here. I have never tried applique before.

Is it too fragile to hold up to multiple washings? If so, would machine quilting add to the strength of it?

Is there such a thing as folded applique? Could I just cut out a diaper shape and fold it up and applique that like a real diaper? And, if I could, can you add a second layer so the leg openings would be a different color?

I know, I know, this all started out sounding so simple. LOL But ya'll know I have to complicate everything!
