Hi all! I am attempting to design a raggedy ann type quilt block. what do you think of the idea of piecing a head..maybe just similar to a snowball type block..(with a neck?) and then embroidering her face.....but what about the hair?? do you think it is posible to do it in a rag quilt type fashion?? just cut it and let it fray to be the hair?? Please all, feel free to offer your thoughts and ideas..I would really like to do this endeavor, but will need help!! Big Grin

Debbie-

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I got up from the computer to go get my reference books and the phone rang. Afraid I got distracted and forgot what I was doing.

Do you know what a seed stitch is? I have posted a couple of links.

If you make a seed stitch, but do not draw the thread up tight (so you have a loose loop on top), that is a raised seed stitch. It is one of my favorites. When the stitches are placed close together it makes lovely wooly sheep, feathers on birds, & fancy decorations on the hats of toy soldiers. I think it would make lovely, (naturally) curly hair for the little red-headed girl, ... er, I mean Annie!

yes Meg..thank you..I did see it. I amthinking that the face should be more rectangle than square so I am going to modify the snowball in to that shape. I think since I prefer to tie quilts, I will use floss for the hair, and tie some knots..more of s prim look??
