I would love to find a pattern for small handbag for my step daughter. I have some horse fabric, and she loves horses. I think I can spare a little of it for a handbag. Anyone have a pattern?

kim, take a look at this thread by michelle m. she posts a pic and then there is also a link to the tutorial to make the bag. this might be just the thing you are looking for and it looks easy to make. it looks like a bag that young girls/teens would like.

Kim what size would you like for her the one that is posted is a shoulder bag that I made for me and also one for my DD who is 16. You can also go the easy sroute out and make a placemat purse that calls for onw nice sturdy placemat and just sew up both sides you can add a lining if you would like also a pocket, and then use the straps webbing that is at most quilts store( i.e Walmart, Joanns ,etc) I did many and have used velcro sew in kind as a closure or just use a magnetic snap or whatever your preference is, any more help just post back and I will do what I can.

I only quilt on Day's that End in " Y "!

Thanks for helping me with that link!! I just saw another real cool idea for making a childs handbag...using two pot holders. it works the same way a placemat purse would work....real simple idea!!
