THANK GOD! I thought I was going to have to make an appointment with a neurologist! I feared my brain had finally slipped it’s last gear...lol
Okkkkkkkkkk.....now that we cleared THAT UP...lol... onward *giggling*. I don’t mind them being scrappy, but... does that mean the blocks are all hand sewn or can I zip them up with my machine? Tell me when is a good time to talk with you? I’m getting more lost...lol More coffee perhaps! I have free long distance... so I can call you when it works...or vice versa. I’ll send you a PM. Cookie... Thanks...even in German I can get an idea from the link you posted! Thanks! "It's a fine line between hobby and mental illness" ~Dave Barry~ |

Oh, no - they are definitely machine sewn. EASY!
The link of Cookie's looks like a VERY similar star but using pattern pieces. One star each way and decide for yourself. LOL! Linda O Texas |

Okay ...
following Linda's description ... and Kerstin's pattern link (although I do not understand a word of German ... pictures really do tell the story)... and my own inclinations ... here is my "Primitive Star" block: http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm214/scrapatches_ph...mitiveStarBlock1.jpg I like it! Not bad for a first try. I used 7 fabrics stacked ... 6 different red and blue prints and one white tone-on-tone background. I drew the pattern on a large square of freezer paper and ironed it to the top fabric to rotary cut the stack. Then I just rearranged the stacks. Since I had 11 pieces, I should have stacked 11 fabrics. But I have the pattern pieces saved and all the extra pieces pinned to them, so I can go back anytime and cut more white pieces. I really like the pattern you posted, Kerstin. Thanks! Thanks to Linda for the explanation ... and thanks to Felicia for asking the question in the first place ... That was fun! |

Arugh... I was supposed to be off at 1 pm today, but instead worked a 9 hr day...ARUGH...what a dirty trick for a Friday...lol
Now... I'm reaaaaaally feeling like a chimpanzie! Pat reads the directions... sees Kerstin's photos...and Linda... I may call you tomorrow. I love this star, and now Pat has me all wound up...lolol I think she has more "inclination" then I do...lol Off for now... I'm really tuckered out. I've fought some low grade cootie all week...and I'm a zombie. I'll get this come heck or HIGH WATER... Thanks to alllll who've jumped in to help me. Hugs....and poof* "It's a fine line between hobby and mental illness" ~Dave Barry~ |

Felicia,
Don't beat yourself up over it, sweetie. You are a very smart lady. I could never beat money out of pharmecutical companies for patients who need medications and cannot afford them. You are a star for being able to do something like that. The only way I was able to follow these directions is most likely because I made a similar pattern before ... not a star but a "crazy" type log cabin square. I took lots of pictures, though, as I made it ... so I will try to post a picture tutorial for you later today |

Pat -
I'm glad you figured it out. It is EASY, isn't it? And the corners don't match up completely, but they don't really show when the star is done. They don't exactly match up because of the seam allowances. IF you took your paper pattern like Pat made and cut it into pieces and add seam allowances, then all your seams would match up. ANOTHER way to do it would be to draw your star on paper, photocopy it for the number of blocks you want of that size, and use it for a paper-pieced pattern. You could draw several stars, different sizes, for a neat quilt. You would have three sections and you would need to allow for seam allowances on the edges that would be sewn and outside edges. Pat - So you will have SOME stars with the cream points or centers, right? Unless you make a pattern and just cut out the printed star pieces and plain background pieces. Felicia - heh heh - I do what Pat did all the tie. I hate spending money on patterns that I use ONCE or not at all, so can USUALLY try to look at a pattern and figure it out or draw it into my QP5 software. LOL! Linda O Texas |
