Ok ladies
I did some searching but could not find a pattern to make my own chef knive bag. My old one is in terriable shape and I really dont want to go out and buy one ( they start out as 50 bucks for a good one ). So I though why not make one. But i cant seem to find a pattern for one. I thought of using my old one but i need it every day and its really in bad shape..
So hopefully some one can find one for me Gerda.... Smile
Thank you

OK, I haven't found anything else (yet), but have you thought of tracing the parts of the bag you have to make your own pattern? OR what about a mechanic's wrench or screwdriver roll? Would that work?

It reminds me of a Knitters roll you could redraft it to the size you wanted and add a handle to the outside.

A tutorial

You could alter a travel roll up tote.
Here are a few patterns that you could alter to your liking: Butterick 3934
Butterick 5006
Mccalls 5120

Just think of how cool it would be made out of a great print fabric! Use a very stiff interfacing like Timetex (I can't spell) Or use oil cloth so that its water proof. Good luck and please show us what you come up with!! Smile

May your bobbin always be full!

I think the idea of a chef's roll is very cool. I can think of several people who would like them. I was also intrigued by the knitter's roll. I do not knit or crochet, but I am wondering if one of the pattern's Kira mentioned would work for crochet hooks. My DDIL crochets, and she is very hard to buy for. I did get her a set of tiny metal hooks for Christmas last year. Those of you who crochet- do you think one of those patterns would work?

These are lovely, Smile Meg for crochet hooks you could do a pencil roll, instead of actual pockets use elastic in strips to push the hooks into and hold them. Might work ?

Jacwui-

Either it is too-o-o-o-o early in the morning or I am having a major blonde meltdown! LOL What, pray tell, is a pencil roll?

If the hooks weren't in a pocket what would keep them from slipping out the end? I think you are on to something, but I am having a hard time visualizing it. I'm thinking, I'm thinking....

Okay, if I used a strip or two of elastic across the width of the fabric, stitched down to make spots to insert the hooks, that would work. And you could see the size of the hook without pulling them out of the pocket. And if I attached a flap at the top and bottom that could be folded over before it were rolled, that would keep them from falling out.

Jacqui, my friend, you are a genius!

Meg I bet she would love this. I cannot tell you how many crochet hooks I have "rebought" over the years because I am forever losing them. I have a really bad habit of just poking them into a ball of yarn, and they can easily slip out.
