This thread sure has been informative about the camp, I have learned alot reading along. You were talking about sending quilts for these kids at camp~would you accept quilt blocks if they are 100% cotton from me?

I am to slow to make up a full quilt and quilt it but I would be willing to send a few blocks for a top if I knew the pattern, color & size of the blocks for a top??? Hopefully in a couple weeks I will be up for making up a few if you like, just let me konw???

Happy Quilting!

I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.

Debo-
I would love to have some blocks! But you know what, I never have a plan until the fabric is out!
If you want to make blocks, make some sampler blocks you've been dying to try but haven't...you will learn something new, and I'll gain a stash of blocks to use in sampler quilts for the kids. Big Grin Colors really don't matter. I use lots of bright colors in the quilts for the kids because it makes it so cheery for the kids. I also make some that are very gender specific to boys or girls. Although, I have more trouble with fabrics for the boys! I don't know why, but fabric might start out screaming "boy" to me and the top ends up being just meant for a girl. I still haven't figured that one out!
Here is a link to my webshots that has some pictures of some of the quilts that have gone to Burn Camp for the kids. http://community.webshots.com/user/JamiCarr?vhost=community
There are 2 folders in there, 1 is Burn Camp Quilts 2007 and the other is just Burn Camp. That will give you an idea what I make for the kids. I try to make everyone different so there is no confusion. Patterns may be the same, but fabrics are way different.

I have been working like crazy on these quilts the last few weeks. I have 6 totally done, and another 4 that need bindings and labels. I don't like doing bindings very good, so I have a tendancy to leave them until I have a pile. They make my hands hurt before I get them done, so I save them up. The hands hurt for a couple of days after, but it's better than hurting for weeks at a time.
I still haven't got any kid counts for this year, so I'm going to keep plugging away at them until I have a big stack. I don't usually label them until just before camp. I leave 1 corner of the binding with big stitches so it is easy to pop loose. That way, I can wash them up and put them in a big box until needed. I like to put 2 sides in the binding, so they are a little more attached than just sewing them on the back.
Just thought I would give a quick update.

Hi, Jami,

I have stored up a box of 4 and 1/4 inch squares of various colors and patterns that I have been saving for scrap quilts that I usually donate somewhere.

I could have a twin size scrap quilt ready to send to you by about June 1st for your camp.

Are you still needing quilts?

Pat

Pat-
Always! Big Grin This is an ongoing process here. I do the quilts every year for camp, so if I don't happen to need them this year, I set them back and use next year. I think last year, I had 3 extra that I made that didn't get used. I never know for sure how many new kids I have until around the 1st of June, sometimes later. I have to make extra so that I'm not making quilts 24/7 in the month before camp starts.
Thanks!!
Jami

Well, I got some tentative numbers for my campers this year. I will have about 12 new boys and 4 new girls! That's 16 quilts!

I have been cutting out quilts like crazy this morning. (I couldn't sleep and was awake at 4 AM!!!) I have 5 quilt tops with bindings cut out and placed in baggies for their turn on the sewing machine.

I've never had that many new campers in 1 year before! Confused Well, back to cutting!
