I have an idea for a Christmas quilt (obviously not for this year! lol) that would use some of the mini-blocks, probably Dear Jane blocks. I want this to be a "period" piece and have a piece of vintage pea (soup) green fabric that I would like to use. Will be using an off-white as the background.

It needs a very specific red, guess the reddish-orange red in bittersweet would best describe it. Definitely want red, but with orange leanings rather than purple. Has anyone seen such a fabric? If you run across such a fabric please let me know. Thanks so much.

Meg, I need to run over to the LQS in the next couple days. I'll check to see if she has anything, and if she does, I'll bum a little sample and send it to you to see if it's what you want. Will let you know when I go - - - probably tomorrow.

Nola

P.S. Do you want a solid, or will a small (tiny) print work?

I hope you find what you are looking for seems here it is easier to find red that has more orange - red look than trying to find a rich deep red. I can look next week when I go for my RA doc and mammogram got them both scheduled together same day, hopefully no more rescheduling, I want these 2 over and done! Just left me know if you don't find what you are looking for.

Happy Quilting!

I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.

If you find something, that would be great. I did do a search on Goggle and was surprised that it actually worked! Seeing it on the internet isn't the same as seeing it in real life, so I am a little reluclent to purchase anything. Maybe I will get a chance to go to the store later this week.

Are you looking for a deep red? Maybe I can help you? Cranberry red? Claret?

Meg, I got a couple little samples of what I consider a red-orange. Will stick them in the mail to you tomorrow since it's already gone for today. After I got these samples I spotted a couple others that were similiar. Our LQS seems to have quite a variety of reds, ranging from red-brown, red-orange, red, pinkish-red, purple-red, etc. We found a piece that was what I consider "pea-soup green" and held it up with these pieces and it looks pretty nice - but then maybe the green we used isn't the same as what you have.

If either of the ones I'm sending seem right, let me know and I'll be glad to get what you need and send it to you.

Have you seen the Lancaster County II and III series by Judy Rothermel for Marcus Brothers?
Here is a link to their website.

See if it is what you are looking for in a "period red." Good Luck! Smile

Oh! Be sure and check out the Sturbridge Village Scarlet collection. It says available November 2007! So it is probably just coming out.

Wasie,

those abrics were just lovely, but I am looking for a solid or a very subtle tone-on-tone that reads as a solid.

Nola,

The samples arrived. I really like the first two. Not sure how much I would need. Do you have the manufacturer's name? Maybe I could find them here or have LQS order some.
