Some years ago, DH bought an antique 30's yo-yo quilt in Shipshewana for my anniversary gift. He is quite taken with it, but it is too fragile to put on the bed. I have been making yo-yo's like crazy in order to reproduce it, but have realized that I do not have enough variety in my fabrics.
So far I have been working on sections of orange and of green. I need 20 FQ of each to complete those sections. Is anyone interested in trading groups of 5 FQ's with me? Besides the 30's fabrics, I have large stashes of other calicos, Asian-inspired, & florals. I also have collectins of plaids, homespuns, Christmas and holiday, and some batik and marbelized fabrics. I am happy to share them if that is what you are looking for.
Since what I am proposing is not a swap in the traditional sense on the forum, but rather a one-on-one trade between individuals, I am putting this post here so as not to interfere with the swaps going on in other threads. I hope this is okay with Kim and the moderators.
It might be overwhelming and I will get confused if I try to take on too much. Eventually I will be looking for some other colors, but for now I am only looking for green fabrics and orange fabrics. Those are the sections that I am currently working on.
What types of fabrics are you looking for Rebecca? 30's? Or something else?
I was looking at my 30's prints this morning. I have quite a few 'novelty' 30's repros with nursery rhyme characters or children's themes in pastel colors. If someone wanted to make a baby blanket, I can put together some groupings of those.
Meg ... I have two pieces of fabric left from the September 30's Happy Blocks ... one a very nice orange print (20' by 13") and one a pretty green print (40" by 13") ... If you can use this, I will drop them in the mail to you. No return fabrics necessary ... consider it a thank you for running the pyramid swap ...
Enjoy
Pat

Meg ... the fabric is the envelope addressed to your PO box and will be on the way to you soon.
I really do not do much with 30's fabrics ... they are pretty, just not really my style. It is just taking up space in my fabric draw. I am happy you can use it in your quilt.
Thanks for all you do for everyone here on BC,
Pat

Meg, I'm sorry to say I don't have orange or green 30's. I so wanted to help you but the group I have is reds, blue, yellows. Yell if you need any of these in the future. Rebecca P

Meg, how big are your yo-yos. I may have some scraps of orange and green fabric that I used in a quilt. Trina PS. Wouldn't be asking for anything in return. You would be helping me clean out my stash.( I dislike throwing fabric pieces away.)

Trina- When I decided to embark on this project, I measured the diameter of the yo-yos from the original quilt, doubled that and added a scant 1/8" seam allowence to turn when I ran the basting thread around the edge. It figured to exactly 3 5/8". I don't know what the quilter from 70 years ago used for her template, but that is exactly the diameter of the plastic lid from a container of Duncan Hines Frosting! hehehehe
Pat- Thank you so much! I didn't see your post until this morning. Are you sure there isn't any other fabric I can entice you with? Asian? Christmas? Florals?
Rebecca- I am going to go through my other colors and see what I need this weekend. I will let you know as soon as I have a chance to count them out.
Debbie- I am pretty sure we can work something out about the children's prints.
