Hey ladies! I am desperately in need of a particular white-on-white fabric which I purchased from Joann's when I was back in CT. I did not make an ample allowance on triangles cut and need about 3 yards of this particular W-O-W one. My closest Joann's is in Columbia, SC which is an hour away and there is no assurance I'd find the same one. It is the last border on my Hearts and Apron Strings quilt and can't complete it without it. Only thing left is to leave out the last set of borders which is a pity since I've already cut out the rest of the fabric (1930's reproductions) and the scallops in this border is the final touch on this quilt which almost took me a year to piece.

If any one of you kind ladies live close to a Joann's and is willing to purchase 3 yards for me, I'll be willing to mail you a swatch if you give me your PM, pay you for the material, postage and your time and effort, I would be in debt for the rest of my days! I might just name the quilt after you!!!

DH is making a trip up to CT tomorrow and will try to hit 2 Joann's while he's up there. Meantime, I'm trying to see if I can get any help in this forum. I tried to go online, but because it is W-O-W, I can't ever tell from the screen whether it is indeed what I needed!

Hope someone can help....

Tata

P. S. I promise to post a pic when it's done.

Thanks to all...

Tata,

I live within 15 minutes drive between 2 JoAnn's, I'm right in the muddle, you might say; and I have a third store within a half hour's drive. I will be going right past two of them tomorrow and am happy to look. Do you still have the selvedge edge that would have any info on it to help identify the fabric? Or if you can describe it, I am happy to give it a whirl. Right now most everything is on sale so if I can save you some money will mean more you have to spend on the next quilt! LOL (Don't you like my logic?)

I am sending you a PM.

Thank you, Julia! I also have responded to Meg's offer and told her my DH is in CT on business this week and will make an attempt to see if the local Joann's up there still has the fabric. I am hoping that I hear back from him later this week to see if he met up with success. If he is unsuccessful, I will send you a PM to get your address and I will mail both you and Meg a swatch. I am thankful that I can count on the forum members to bail me out of this situation. It was my stupidity to have not tried out the last triangle first before cutting the rest of the fabric since I have done that step and adjusted all the other triangles in the pattern. Duh!!!!! That should teach me! I guess I was spoiled in CT where there was a proliferation of quilt fabric shops around me and Joann's was close by. There are not that many here around the Charlotte area. It is unfortunate that Walmart has started to discontinue carrying fabric and the Hobby Lobby here has a limited selection.

Will keep you posted and thanks again in advance!

Tata

Tata, I'm at my local Joann's at least once a week. I'll be happy to look for you and see if they have what you need.
Can you take a picture of the fabric you need and post it here? Sometimes if you take a picture at a slight angle, you capture the pattern on a WOW fabric.

A funny feminist notion just popped into my head while reading this thread. Tata is blessed to have found her Prince Charming- he sounds like some other fporum husbands, including my own, who whole-heartedly embrace and encourage our passion. But isn't it great to see so many damsels stepping up to the plate to help a fellow damsel in distress!

Why, thank you Suzanne. Taking a picture is a great idea...just concerned that with the size limit of pics uploaded in this forum, it may not capture the resolution enough but I'll try just the same. And to Meg's point, I am indeed fortunate that the members of this forum just jump in to help others in distress. I am just really peeved if I can't finish the last piece, since originally I didn't think I had enough fabric, then thought I did, then I messed it up royally! I have to say that in my years of quilting, this was one of the most challenging quilts I have ever attempted. There are just WAAAAYYYY too many seams, triangles on point, curves, appliques, etc. and I was working on a pattern that had no verbal directions, just diagrams. The fact that I made it thus far is an achievement in and of itself. And yes, DH has lived long enough with me and seen me passionately sewing, quilting, ripping seams, going on a fabric quest for just the right color, shade, tint and value to realize that it indeed is something I love doing very much. He's educated in the art of quilting by now and I would bet he knows the names of more notions than most men I know!

Anyhow, I'll go fetch the camera and see if I can post a pic of this precious fabric so I can finish the top and post a pic of that as well. BTW, anybody interested in commiserating with me on the misery of working this beauty is welcome to the pattern! After all, misery loves company, but the end-product will be all worth it, I promise!!!!

Later, gals!

Tata

Okay...here's a picture. Had to try various combos of camera settings. Seems the macro setting (for close ups) worked best even at the lowest compression. Let me know if it looks okay.

That's a great picture Tata. I'll be going to Joanns one day this week, I'll take a look for you and see if they have it. I'll check here first before I leave in case someone else finds it first.
And by the way, I've done this too - run out of a fabric before a project was finished. It was also white, but in my case I got lucky since I ran out when it came time to add the large outer border, so I just used another WOW and it turned out ok.
I'll let you know if I find it for you...

Tata,

I live close to a Joann's also, by any small chance do you still have the receipt for the fabric? If so the stock number should be on it and we can go by that to try to locate it for you also. Ha can you tell I talk from experienceSmile
