I have a project in mind that will require several gradations in color. Want to know I can find the fabric needed before I proceed with the planning. I am thinking hand-dyed is the way to go. There seem to any number of dyers out there, according to my google search. Was wondering if anyone has personal experience with a particular dyer and can recommend someone or offer a word of warning? Thanks, guys and dolls; as always I value your imput.

Are you familiar with the term mandala? It comes from the Sanskrit word for circle. While usually associated with Buddhist or Hindu practices, madalas are actuall found in cultures all over the world including Native Amercian and Christianity. Many circular stianed glass windows over the alters in cathedrals and very old church buildings are mandalas.

Anyway, our church has an interdenominational group of women who have been meeting there for at least 20 years for the purpose of making madalas. The group isn't limited to women, but they seem to be the most faithful to the group. They employ various artistic techniques to creat mandalas as a meditation device.

Last Wednesday evening, two of the ladies did a demonstration for the evening Bible study group. I found the concept quite fascinating since I am very interested in religous art, but since I don't work in their medium, I am not sure how appropriate it would be for me to join the group. I am sure that I would be welcome, but working in fabric, it would take me more than an evening to complete.

Have an idea for a series, variations on a theme. Thought I would explore them on my own. Once I have one done, and the mock-ups for the others, I would share them and see if I get invited to join anyway.

Now, aren't you sorry you asked? LOL This was way more information than you wanted, right? LOL You have learned an invalubale lesson! LOL Never,... never ever ask Meg an open-ended question, because she would much prefer to use ten words where one will do! LOL Sorry! Guilty as charged! It's the teacher in me! LOL

Pat,

Looking at the Nancy Rink site made me hungry for salt water taffy! All those soft yummy pastels! Delicious! I can think of all sorts of things to use them in; but not for this project. If I am figuring this right, I need a palette closer to the color wheel, with 12 colors; 3 primary, 3 secondary, 6 tertiary.
