I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.

Debo - I'd love to have the Deer and the musical notes. Thanks. You can send them with your strips?

Deb -

Thanks! The list on page 1 is dwindling down. LOL! Your post got me thinking and I have one set of alphabet (I spy) blocks left from the A B C swap. I Giraffe, Horse, Quilt, Tractor, and Yoga in that batch. LOL! I've updated the list of what I need here on page 1.

Thanks for the "clue" that made me remember them. LOL!

Linda
I will post the deer and musical notes off to you with my strips. I will cut mine to a 7" because not everyone cuts the same, this way you can square it to your measuring tools.

Glad that I could "clue" you in hehehe.

I hope that someday I can make a baby I spy quilt for my son and his new wife, they are trying to get careers off and running and to busy right now for babies, which I am not complaining at all they need this time with each other.

Thanks, Debo!

Woo hoo! only 8 more letters to go! And I think I may have a Xylophone. LOL!

I'm looking for OTHER words with these letters that may be easier to find. LOL! Found one, too - Libelle is Dragonfly and I have some! LOL!

Linda- I don't speak German, so maybe this is a silly question.... I was trying to visualize how you were going to put 26 blocks in your quilt and have the rows come out even. Then it occured to me that in Hungarian (which I do speak, a little), there are 44 letters. They have some sounds we don't use, plus there are 2 a's, 2 e's, 2 i's, and 4 each o's and u's. They differentiate them by using the little grammatical marks over the letters. Isn't German like that, too? If it is, wouldn't that mean you would need more than 26 letters? I'm not trying to through a monkey wrench in this, I really am curious and just wondered if you had thought about it. Please forgive me if I am out of line here.

Meg -

When I asked my German host about this (and Cookie from BC) there are mainly the 26 letters. Yes, they have the a, o, and I think u with the double dots over them, but those are mostly in the MIDDLE of words, and not at the beginning. So the 26 letters are pretty standard.

Well Linda, Duh, I just looked at the list and realized, I've been making I Spy quilts and I have balloons, Kites, Lizards, and several others! Long day at work my mind is boggled...doesn't take much. Let me know! I've pm'd you about some Indian fabric.

Linda,
when you mentioned the double dots reminded me of a teacher I had when I attended language school to learn German. His name was Herr Clausen and he would emphasize the umlauts with the clicking of his tongue and punctuate the air with his fingers. Too bad there isn't a sound effect of how he did it.
But I haven't forgotten and that has been over thirty years ago.

Linda-

So it is more different from Hungarian than I thought, as there are words that start with those funny vowels. Thanks for clearing that up. Still can't figure out how you are going to make 26 blocks come out even.

I almost always look for the simpliest "design possibility." I'd cheat and add number blocks so I could have six rows of six, but that's just cuz this feeble old brain can't do higher math any more. LOL

Can't wait to see a picture of the completed quilt and see how you set the blocks.
