The other day I read someone's post (I think it was on BC?!?) about wanting oilcloth for tables.
I got my weekly e-mail from Grandma's Attic and in there was a link for oilcloth - they sell lots of different ones

I hope this helps whoever was looking!

I read the same one. From Quilter's Cache mentioning the oilcloth. She was talking about covering her picnic table that they just bought. According to the article that she posted, oilcloth went out of style back in the 50s.

I like the ones I see posted in website you gave us, Gerda. I especially like the Apples and Pears and the gingham.

All of those patterns of oilcloth are so neat. Brings back lots of memories of my grandma's house with the oilcloth table cloths. She even used it to cover the seats of the kitchen chairs. Thanks for finding this site.

Yes, brings back memories for me too! I remember in 1968 it was still around in San Jose California. My aunt and uncle painted their kitchen table and chairs purple then covered the seats with a very bright hot pink and purple flowered oil cloth and used more of it to cover the table top, putting a light padding underneath to keep it softer for some reason. I loved it and have considered doing it in my own kitchen if/when I ever move back to the States.

I think oilcoth went out of vogue about the time the flannel-backed vinyl tablecloths became popular. My granny always had oilcloth on her old kitchen table - it would wear like iron.
