Hmm........I thought this link mentioned roses and lavender? I must be losing it...lol

I grow both roses and lavender in containers. Roses like to be well watered in the hot months, and lavender plants prefer to be dry. Roses like amended soil...and TLC. Once established Lavender likes to be left alone. When I first planted it I put a little bone meal and peat moss in the bottom of the hole...and that's it. I have a friend who works at a lavender farm here and that's ALL they do!

Hop on down to the gardening thread or the NHGC REUNION THREAD. Lots of gardeners with opinions in that area...lol

Oh... I just thought about something. There are some evening blooming plants that really kick out the fragrance at night. Your deck would be heaven! Roses like at least 6 hrs of sun, and Lavender likes lots of sun too.

Here's a link that may help you. I've grown several of these plants, and they do smell wonderful! The stocks don't look like much but they are amazingly fragrant. Same with 4 o'clocks. Evening blooming plants

Hi, Feliicia,

I love this site! It has such nice photos and detailed infortmation about the plants, including the zone hardiness.

I have a lot of shade in my backyard and I love the trees and so do the birds, so I am particularly enjoying the "Shade Garden" section.

We did a lot of re-landscaping a year or so ago to extend the driveway and the yard work part has never been finished. There are also areas in my yard that have never grassed over where the kids had their sandbox and swingset a few years back. I want to do more garden growing and less grass growing, as I like to go out and just sit and enjoy the birds and the flowers.

I want to do more container growing, too, so I can move them until I find a place where they and I are happy.

Today is a good day to go continue to clean up the winter mess. Okay ... I am going outside now while I feel energized and enthusiastic ... Smile Pat
